Sounds like the old 8-bit era, magazines were full of adverts for mail order products Still these days I would imagine if you were serious and had a decent game to sell, a publisher might make more sense. There must be some demand out there, shops still need some things to sell not everyone buys online only and console games of course are still released as boxed product, although they still expect you to download a ton of patches.
SPECS: Ryzen 1700 CPU. Nvidia 970GTX. 16 Gig Memory. Win 10.

This is why Game Guru needs to keep a focus, regardless of how one intends to sell their game.

Things that are broken need to be fixed first - before going down the path of lengthy updates.

It is great to add new shiny stuff (that we all want ), but before going down the path of an update that will have taken the best part of a year (yet again), the engine should allow you to do what it claims, eg: make games that friends (or potential customers) can play.

If you can't release your game now for whatever reason (broken stand-alone perhaps?), it is unlikely that you will be able to release your game when the new update arrives, because you will still have the same engine we have now. It will be faster, and have the potential for PBR content, and better AI, but it is still the Game Guru you have now.

Reliquia....

The problem is here
EXE file now has a lot of bugs
I want these problems to be resolved
I had already sent these problems to Mr. Lee
I hope the bugs will disappear in the new version
As a result: games can be sold physically and digitally
It would be very good to be able to sell games physically and digitally

But I'm no longer tired of this engine
And I can not wait
I want to work with unity5 engine
But gg was a good experience
And I will follow it
I still hope that the new version will have an excellent exe output

The line breaker 1 is waiting for the new version

Mr. Lee please understand us
Good luck ...

You could in fact already sell your games Physically or digitally ?
Ok I understand there are bugs with some files that can be sorted with Manually transferring them across to the standalone but either way you would still probably need and want to create your own installer which is not included in other engines either that I'm aware of ?
Install Creator Pro and your good to go
However if you can learn Unity then that's what I would go for ..

Yes, I got it
I can create an installation file
The software (Install Creator Pro) is very good
But...
The problem is here ...
Run exe file ...
There are a lot of bugs that I'm afraid of
So I will not publish the game
Until the new version comes up
I hope that most bugs will be overcome
such as :
Loading speed
The speed of the game
Having an artefact of light
The problem of manipulating and reading files
Icon problem and its description (game guru editor)
And ...

Of course, I think most of these problems will be resolved with the new version.
And I hope that the GG will provide a good exe output and good graphics at high speed
I'm waiting for the new version ....

Loading speed - nothing to do with the exe, everything to do with the engine
The speed of the game - nothing to do with the exe, everything to do with the engine
Having an artefact of light - nothing to do with the exe, everything to do with the engine
The problem of manipulating and reading files - no idea what you mean by this
Icon problem and its description (game guru editor) - not a bug, working as intended, and very likely won't be changed, last time I ran a standalone from UE4 it was the same, it showed as epiclauncher or something like that in task manager and had the UE4 icon.

excuse me ... !!!
Where does exe come from?
Does it come from the sky?
If the engine is good ... the exe is good.
If the engine is bad .... exe is bad
Now gg is bad
So the exe is bad
With all its bugs

I do not feel good ... GG

Belidos is agreeing with you as far as the issues go and saying its the engine ??
He also pointed out that a standalone from Unreal shows the Epic launcher and UE4 icon

I worked one year
From version 1.21
Up to current version
But when I see the output of EXE
I'm really disappointed with GG
During the last year, I sent a lot of problems from Version 1.21
Many of them were solved and I really thank Mr. Lee
I sent the game EXE output problems
According to the talk about the new update, I think most of the EXE problems are solved
And I'm waiting
I mean, the current version is discouraged am

Note:
-If you produce a high quality game.
-Then released EXE output.
-Publish the game.
-Customers buy it.
-Or participate in a festival or community.
But ultimately
Everyone will see your game's output
(With current problems is GG)
What will they really say?
How will the GG be defined?

My goal is to express problems
Helping GG
So GG can solve them.

Eventually we will see a good engine
And there will be a lot of fans.
I love GG.
Working with it is enjoyable.
Only if the bugs go away....
It will be very good.
And I'm not afraid to publish the game.
And I'm proud that my game was made with GG.
Only if the bugs go away....

excuse me
Good luck

lol last few times that happened FPSC Reloaded Became Game Guru and Game Guru was put on hold for AGK and then again put on hold for "My World".

I think in this case Lee is just very busy. This is a pretty big update to move from X9 to X11. Its got tons of bugs presently and its just not ready for release. I also think the man needs some rest. He's a wizard. Wizards need sleep too.

Yes, I guess he's busy... Let him work
You want 10 comments from him, or 10 bugs fixed?
Let him work, sooner or later he will update us about the dx11 status.

I was just curious as not everyone is using the BETA and were assuming the PBR updates were int he public build. Best to ask questions about how to use the PBR in the closed beta thread. More likely to get a response there.

If you were a beta tester in the past, then email lee@thegamecreators.com and ask him for access back.

Once you are there look for one of my threads the naming convention is in there. Do be warned that this could change as Lee puts more work into this.

hi Pirate
Yes Lee sent me an acess to beta some time ago and I´m using it... and at email there was a txt about the thread but I never found the thread...maybe I´m doing something wrong. Now with the PBR very close I want to test a lot of models I have made with 3DCoat but I don´t know how to naming the textures. Anyway I sent an email to Lee again.

It's been a long time since I signed on, so I'm not really sure how it works, lol. I'm sure someone around here can help you, if not, email Lee. Btw, that is an awesome character! I just recently got iClone 7/character creator/3dexchange/all kinds of stuff plus export licenses for everything, but really haven't done much with it yet. I sure hope we will be able to use those with GG in the future!

TBH guys I've been bomb testing the beta for speed and stablity i have no idea about pbr but it looks very nice from what i can see so far you can expext a decent increase in speed and the amount of entities on a map effecting this e.g 8k enties having better fps than 2k on the old system. I know Lee has other things going on and will update us as it comes to pass but it is definately a worth while update. Keep tuned be sure he's working hard and its going to be a very positive update.

I heard from a few users that the performance is really bad in the beta right now. Anyone who can approve this?
You know you watched too many of Lee's Live Brodcasts when you're at work and have an earwig from his twitch intro music....

By the way, I am a Modder, Soundtrack Composer and now Game Developer. Well, sort of.

Nope, performance in beta is really good. Honkey's created a level with over 8000 entities including a lot of AI and it's running a decent 50fps.

No problems here either, my test level used to run at 30-40fps with vsync on, but now it never dips below 60fps, I keep adding stuff but it will not seem to slow up. Occasional bit of stutter but apart from that all is fine with the speed.

great news ! Idk whats the problem then... strange..

You know you watched too many of Lee's Live Brodcasts when you're at work and have an earwig from his twitch intro music....

By the way, I am a Modder, Soundtrack Composer and now Game Developer. Well, sort of.

Thanks for the good news guys on the speed front.

As I'm sure you know by now I use slow graphic cards and CPUs (GTX750Ti is my best) I'm more than happy with these.

What I'm not happy with is the very slow loading times on AMD CPUs any good news here?

There are no new features in this upcoming update, other than PBR as far as i know.

It's mostly an upgrade to the rendering engine, converting it from DX9 to DX11, and optimization, that's all. The only addition is PBR and some upgrades to the current FBX importer, plus a few fixes to other things (eg some of the zombie AI issues have been fixed). So far, that might change.

If you want a road map, there isn't one, there's a list of features that people want, and a page where you can vote for the enxt one to be worked on, each time an update is complete the highest votre feature is worked on and then the voting page is reset so we can vote for the next one.

Still, let's not under-state how necessary this update was (PBR and visual finery aside) ... it's really important to have a functioning engine that doesn't take 15 minutes to load a map, throw shadows from a sun that isn't there when baking lights, and runs at a reasonable clip on modern hardware.

A strong house is built on a stronger foundation. What we have here is Lee having to bulwark the firmament. It'll give us a good solid position to work from going forward.

*crosses fingers* hoping AI is next.

In the meantime, Beta testers - can you advise if the standalone load times with 30-40 AI entities are improved at all?
