Hi All,

I am happy to announce the release of the Alpha Build 2, which is now available from your TGC Account Product page, and also the release of Sneak Peek Video #11 which covers some of the features of the demo.

As prompted in the video, if you can download and run the alpha build 2 demo and post here your FPS score and the system you are running (specifically the graphics card you are running), and it would also help if you posted your PassMark score, which you can do by entering this in google and checking out the link:

"GTX 960 Passmark" (if you had a GTX 960 that is). On clicking the best link, it would show a score of "5943" for a system that used this card. This is a decent benchmark for us to know how your FPS score relates to the system you are running. For my system, I typed "gtx 1080 passmark" and got a PassMark score of "14661" and I have an FPS of over 250 on the demo.
GameGuru Classic will continue to be supported with bug fixes and functionality additions.

You may need to change to " vrmode=0 " in the setup.ini to get it going.

No this Alpha is the engine running on your system. Alphas are not necessarily updates they are for testing mostly

Getting 80-90fps with these specs:

AMD Ryzen 3 2200g
Geforce GTX 1070 (8GB)
Gskill Trident Z RAM (16GB, 3200mhz)

Resolution 3440x1440

kinda bad framerate for a room that small and empty!

Nice demo Lee, here are the FPS ratings on my 2 windows 10 devices.

Laptop

ACER SWIFT SF315-52

Running in a window of quarter screen size
38 to 41fps @ 1920X1080
58 to 62fps @1280x720
So very fast on Intel UHD620 compared to GG Classic, I was getting 12fps, as Classic can only run full screen.

Running in a window of quarter screen size

Windows 10 Home - v1903 OS Build 18362.836
Intel i7 5820K 3.30GHz (overclocked to 4.6GHz)
Geforce GTX 1070 8GB
Screen Resolution: 2560x1080 (ultra-wide)

Passmark Score: 13309

I was getting frame rates from 130 - 150+ during the demo.

One thing to note - while I was running this on my ultra-wide gaming monitor, I have two monitors hooked to the same card. So, while the nothing was going on on the second monitor, it was turned on (it's my interactive pen display for art creation).

RTX2070 SUPER - Passmark 18,106

FPS around 350 (can see it dipping into the 200’s at certain points of the camera journey)

Also see distracting shimmering - is this the MSAA?

Edit: the sponza scene in the native wicked engine runs at around 250 FPS, wonder what that scene runs at in the GGM version of it, or what does the cellar scene of GGM run like in the pure wicked engine? Might be an interesting comparison to check any GGM overheads or improvements.

Cheers.

I don't have MAX yet, my computer obviously wouldn't run it!
I see the specs on the included demo room-- but Anyone interested in creating
a new thread to show some individual small demo levels with the Classic assets?
A little bit of showing off something more - if there is much to show off- Just for
the heck of it?

So....... I guess I'm curious to see what some scripts running would do for the fps?!
Or 50 scripted objects, and maybe at least half of them animated!! Aha...!

BTW-- if the objects where to move about in the cellar-- if a poltergeist threw some
of that furniture around-- would the shadows move dynamically?

Same case as IceVANPS.
2 GPU > Internal Intel + Nvidia
with Intel run at 7-8Fps
With Nvidia crashed before start.
The first alpha worked very well with nvidia and intel

I realize that if the focus is not in gameguru window when it is starting, a text with 100-300fps appear in the upper left corner using Nvidia GPU. But if I give the focus to GG window, it crashes again.

As Lee has stated all along each Alpha release will have features removed and added, it is not a Beta version that comes in September, this is a first development build compiled at 64 bits a showcase/benchmark test.

Alphas are pre release to Betas, betas pre release to preview does this help clear things ?

@GubbyBlips: Alpha version are company 'test' versions. These will test machine speed as well as graphical looks but may not be interactable. As we get closer to December then we might get interactive versions but for now the alphas will be extremely cut down versions.

@Burgos
I don't think the the nvidia gtx950m will cut it.
The minimum spec for Max is a GeForce GTX 960 ( around 5950 Passmark )
You say your running a GeForce GTX 950m ( around 2600 passmark )
The first Alpha had the GG placement engine, ( never going to be the final ) This is running the Wicked engine but its always been stated the minimum will be the GTX 960.

But I have also said that it works on an integrated gpu (in the next post). An Intel hd graphics 4600 a gpu much worse and with less characteristics.
How can it not work on a gtx950m?
On the intel hd 4600 it runs at 8-10fps but the graphics look good.
On the gtx950m I understand that it should at least run.
I understand that the minimum is a gtx960. But the demo runs on a gpu infinitely worse than that.
It must be some other problem. Maybe something related to laptops with 2 gpus?

Demo run on Intel HD 4600

Continuing with the problem with the gtx950m
https://forum.game-guru.com/thread/221888#msg2631124

I have been testing different configurations to see if I could run the demo on my 950.

In one of the tests I moved the window of demo and I got 2 error alerts:
Backbuffer creation failed
Main Rendertarget creation failed

Maybe this will help.

Difficult one … The minimum Spec of the GTX 960 has been on the website since day one and I must have posted it hundreds of times along with Windows 10 only. Some just refused to believe it … Go figure ?

100-106 fps normal sized. 150 when the window is minimised. Faster still if you manually shrink the window further. Up to an occasional 400 fps if you shrink it to only show the max flag.
You will notice as you shrink it the text and game guru flag sprite remain the same size, while the scene scales fine. I'm sure this is just an oversight and will be added.
SPECS: Ryzen 1700 CPU. Nvidia 970GTX. 16 Gig Memory. Win 10.

@synchromesh
ahhh i run with 3 monitors 2 24" and a XP-Pro drawing tablet so my initial run i ran in a 'window mode' rather than full screen it was very very smooth and probably explains the 5000fps yes 5050.10 fps

i will test again today with a single monitor @1920x1080 and also test with VR on and off
