I now have my local servers and internet/cloud servers up and running which didn't take me too long. I can't use my business ones for obvious reasons. Once I've done a wee bit more testing , should be ready for a user download test thanks to MK83.

more work done on the AW 3.0 software update side. Compares the remote files against the current local installed app files (compares datetime stamps in seconds). Works well. Tests ongoing and other updates being made. AGK version also still being worked on if anyone uses that.

@GraPhix-please can you check you have these c++ redistribs, I believe it's the vs2010 (if missing) ones that cause that error:



also please try and copy all dlls from the app root folder into your syswow64 and system32 folders, ignore if you already have.
check dotnet 3.5 is also installed.

Hmm yes I recall that post now. Works on my system,. Will have a look into it again. I'm not sure why it coming up on yours as you tested the same app before when doing a test download of the text file.

Thanks MK83: laziness on my part really, I should have done software updater/installer yonks ago. It started out as a really basic fpsc segment to game guru entity converter tool really and never bothered with the frills.

More to come in the new year. I hope Max is going to be something awesome in march, although I can see them deferring the release again but you never know.

Happy New Year to all.

There is a new v3.1 download for anyone that wishes to.
instructions:

1 - run AW 3.0
2 - click on the update button.
3 - if all ok, you will see in your root folder the new .EXE and a renamed .EXE now called AutoWelder_OLD.exe.
4 - Exit out of AW
5 - run the new AutoWelder.exe which should have a new date/time stamp
6 - click on the update button again to start off the new version of the Update Software functionality.
7 - new / newer files found will be installed.
8 - old / obsolete files will remain intact as I have disabled this feature for now.

I'll copy this text to the first post.

Please note: My remote server(s) are shut down after a specific time (usually around 20:30 UK time) for security reasons and normally back up around 9am UK time.

not getting an update, here's what I get, then after around 30 sec. it goes away.

It might be my server wasn't up at the time , I started it later than usual. Pls try again. If it still doesn't work, I'll have a look into it. I tested my side on my installed v3.0 version and all ok this end. If you go to about menu item it should read v3.1 if update successful.

Hi m8 nice to see you have decided to continue with AW, I downloaded v3.0 ran the exe installer
once installed set to run as admin, double clicked icon and I get nothing happening. any ideas why

my system specs are now....

@Super Clark: I attach a list of dlls that AW uses when running. Do you have dotnet 3.5 installed via program features? Do you have all the relevant c++ redistribs installed , here is my list:

@MK83-sorry your still having update issue. Did you click the update button, come out and see any _OLD.exe in the root app folder at all? If yes, come out of AW and rerun but use the .exe not the _OLD.exe version. If still no luck, I'm not sure yet why it's not updating for you. What is the date/time stamp of your current .exe file? The remote site exe date/time stamp is 02/01/2022 17:15 in (dd/mm/yyyy format).

If It doesn't resolve for you I will recreate a new install zip. Sorry about that, works this end fine and the server is up and running.

All ddl's are in syswow64 and system32 folders. attached pic of dotnet 3.5 installed and ticked use.
pic of all C++ installed. tried eveyting even allowed in firewall and norton 360


uninstalled AW v3.0 and installed AW 3.1 still same just nothing happens when you double click icon.
