Hey guys got some more updates to the Medieval Collection:

- 14 Medieval Props (interior window, paintings, etc)
- 8 Marketplace Stalls Added to Medieval Props
- 2 Medieval Furniture Objects (shelves)
- 22 Medieval Buildings

Great for an exterior and interior medieval world

Also worked on some more objects from the Post-Apocalyptic Pack. These objects are great for even modern maps:

- 17 Signs Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection
- 16 Trash Overlays Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection

Additionally I've started working on a Nature Collection. This is where all trees, plants and rock formations will go. Anything related to jungle however will be located in the Tropical Jungle Collection.

No problem, I felt it was much needed. Seeing a lot of people request free objects of which GG lacked a bit of.

Starting working more on the Medieval Collection:

- 15 Wooden Fences Added to Medieval Collection
- 23 Stone Wall Structures Added to Medieval Collection
- 9 Props Added to Medieval Collection

- 10 Sci-Fi Props Added to Science Fiction Collection
- 25 Props Added to Historical Collection
- 4 Buildings Added to Historical Collection

Still have plenty more objects to be added to the Medieval and Sci-Fi Collection. Hopefully I'll have them done before the end of the month. Took a while to get these working, due to their original folder structure being all over the place in FPSC. Also their textures were in JPG so I had to convert each of them to DDS:

Yeah, that was why I gave up converting them myself, a couple of the packs were structured weirdly and I couldn't figure it out, one texture was in one folder, another in a different folder, the model was in yet another folder. I couldn't get my hed round it.

Yeah and some of the models in the different folders had the same name as others in different folders. So had to edit every FPE file and .X and rename them and reference them accordingly to the changes. very tedious stuff but was able to complete most of the models that had this situation with them. However segments would take months to convert. I might leave segments until GG's snapping modes are improved. Since its next up on the list of features community vote.

Here's the latest updates for this good Friday:

- 4 Intercoms Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection
- 4 Light Fixtures Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection
- 6 Light Fixtures Added to WWII Collection
- 8 Light Fixtures Added to Science Fiction Collection
- 9 Sci Fi Wall Signs Added to Science Fiction Collection
- 11 Books Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection
- 2 Buildings Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection
- 48 Sci-Fi Props Added to Science Fiction Collection
- 27 Large Rock Formations Added to Nature Collection
- 2 Trees Added to Nature Collection
- Sci-Fi Music Added to Science Fiction Collection
- 5 Props Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection
- Wooden Dock Added to Post Apocalyptic Collection

Great job! A wider variety of models for GG will be useful!

Just a question: will you also convert the characters or is it at the moment not possible/too demanding?

Keep up the good work!

They can be converted .. I think ... but it would mean going through every one of the animations and noting down the start/end frame from each animation, then creating an FPE file with those animations listed and then working out an ai script to use with them. Pretty large task.

- Music Added to Medieval Collection
- Music Added to Cartoon Medieval Collection

I was able to get some characters from FPSC to work fine in GG. However the majority of the ones approved for free distribution in GG, distort when imported in. I believe their bipeds might need to be replaced. I have yet to really poke at those more difficult characters yet. I may check them out after I get all the object entities, interactive object entities and segments completed.

I did a couple as well with the same results. It's been a while since I converted it (well over a year, possibly two), and maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to try again to see if maybe things have changed. I believe there is a different skeleton from then, but I'm not sure. Anyway, Attached is the female explorer from one of the Tropical packs if anyone wants to work with it. (I have never successfully uploaded anything to this forum, so I don't know if it will go!)

EDIT: It worked! LOL, anyway, it works more or less, I used the ai_neutral.lua but if you change to soldier.lua she will shoot at you and act as goofy as the rest of them. Ragdoll seems to work a little bit but that could be the difference in skeleton as I suspect. Again, I will try to reconvert this weekend (time willing)!

Ran a test using my first attempt at getting her working with the default skeleton (unchanged from FPSC). You can see the one you just sent, at the top of the hill. For some reason mine has her arms all warped. I guess the normal biped doesn't work?

FYI that scream scared the hell out of me. Didn't expect that to occur at all. I set the character as female so I guess it automatically grabbed the sound effects from a female audio bin

You can set a character as female? I didn't know that! Mine doesn't scream! Yeah, her arms are all deformed, but I swear they weren't like that in Reloaded. Only the skin looked horrible in Reloaded, and you can see how bad in GG if you put entity shader on high. I think the skeleton is different now. Tonight was the first time I loaded that character into GG. I used Animer to convert it originally, and I'm pretty sure something has changed since. I will try a new conversion this weekend!

yep was an old FPE line left from FPSC I had there, had no idea GG actually had a female soundset so it did take me by surprise when she screamed. Also try using the ragdoll command to see if you get better results when she falls to the ground.

I'm going to have to test out the Animer software as well. I tried the importer option in GG but the character just goes invisible during gameplay except for a solid black head and boots. Feel free to share your results

I've had the wobbly arm thing myself a few times when trying to import fuse characters.

I found that prior to importing into gameguru if I opened them in Mender and saved them again, then loaded them in Fragmotion and saved them again, then repeated with Mender again, then they imported fine. I think it's something to do with them not being set to a ROOT bone properly and jiggling them back and forth in Mender and Fragmotion fixes that.

Try that and see if it helps.

That method got me from this:

To this:

And finally to this:

before I finally decided characters were far to much effort and gave up on them.

Talking of Mender, it was a free piece of software that was available on the TGC site, but since the change to the TGC website most of the stuff you could buy or download for free has disappeared.

As Mender was free anyway, if I was to be asked for it would I be allowed to pass on a copy to others?

It's still very useful, almost important in some cases, to modelling for GameGuru and we can't download it any more. It's not an issue for some of the older users that will already have it, but could be detrimental to the sustainability of new customers in the future if they can't get it any more.

I used Mender along with Animer on the female_scout, but I didn't do any "jiggling" between Mender and Fragmotion. I will have to add "jiggling" to my pipeline! Thanks for the tip! As far as Mender is concerned, I think Rafhalzer created that. He still sells Animer, so he probably still has Mender available.

Hey Lee! Sorry I missed your emails this past weekend, I wasn't getting any notifications for some reason. I've sent over a reply.

As far as FPSC character conversations go. I've made some progress by using fragmotion. Testing out the History Pack characters right now. Simply importing the X file into fragmotion and exporting it back as X, seems to correct all the warping. Next up will be realigning all the animations to the correct csi_* slots. Hopefully it works out.

Does anyone have a list of what each animation is (by number range) in the old FPSC biped?

I only have the numbers of the particular animations. I never used FPSC much but used it to make stuff for DBPro. They are numbered 1-91 in range for fpi scripts. It seems all the old info has disappeared online due to the new site. I will search further, as I store every bit of info that I can find but lose track of it quite easily! Now that I think of it, I wonder if that info isn't in the original community created help files. I will look.

EDIT: The old stuff is still around, but it will take a little digging...

There ya go, found them!

EDIT: Apparently, all the old forums are still accessible. I wish that they would link to them from the main site (I didn't see any link, but perhaps they do) as well as the old products, even if they have been discontinued. Memory is cheap.

We only have permuission to use these in GameGuru or FPS Classic ....
for use in other engines you would have to ask permission from the original Artists ..

Hello Teabone,

these Model Packs are really, really great =)

Please, might You check the "Post-Apocalyptic Collection".
In the description it tells something about "1,268 Files | 164 MB" but its only 15,1 MB.
Might You fix that.
That would be very great.

Best regards,
R.E.Z.

Hey REZ thanks for reporting that issue; the transfer didn't complete 100% on the last update. It is fixed now at 163MB with 1,474 files (includes X, DDS, FPE, BMP).

Your welcome everyone, currently I'm making sure that all static objects get up. Then I'll be moving towards getting the interactive objects working. Then the segments. I may actually be getting some helping hands with the characters and weapons. I'm also always open to others helping submit conversations too, for those that have the skill-set and time. I also intent to bring back some of the classic decals and particles.

There still a great deal of wonderful model packs on the GitHub I'd love to convert over to GG. Just waiting for all authors to authorize this. I don't have their contacts unfortunately, so I cannot ask directly.

Once I get all the static objects up, I'll be going back to check every FPE file to ensure they are using the correct shaders and material index. Additionally will be creating normal maps and spec maps for objects that look odd when using High graphics on entities. Essentially making sure everything looks good when on high graphics settings.

In the attachment, you can see the sci-fi characters are showing up in GG nicely. I'm thinking about making the characters eyes and chest light, actually lit with illumination map. Could look quite creepy seeing that enemy in the dark coming at you.

I'm impressed Teabone a very good job well done if I must say for going out of your own way to do all of this for everyone here. This can surely help me in my constructive building for my game(s) with all these tons new free extra things.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm experiencing weird blips where the mesh around the bones of FPSC characters goes all over the place for like a frame or two. Almost looks like the screen flashes each time it happens.

the mesh matrix is incorrect. unlike fpsc guru still need to be mature to handle this or most likely over look incorrect meshes. that's why we never see this problem in fpsc it was fix to over look it. but guru on the other hand is going to allow you to see things that is wrong with the outdated mesh. but also sometimes it is also cause by shader the mesh is using. updating the mesh will be an easy fix.

Have you tried loading it into mender then saving it again? Mender is pretty good for fixing small issues with the mesh and bones, it's what it was created for.

Is Mender free and where would I acquire it? I've actually never used it before.

Mender was available free from the TGC site before they changed it, I can't find where to get it now, but Super Clark has posted the file up on the forum here:

https://forum.game-guru.com/thread/215201

IIRC Mender was a tool that was actually created to specifically address various mesh and rigging issues for models being converted from FPSC to FPSCR, it should fix most minor issues simply by loading the .x file into it and then exporting it back out as a .x again.

As part of cleaning up the boards, these threads will be moved to their proper home on the free media board.

Also I have renamed this thread to help people find it more easily in future.

I just want to say "Thank you, Teabone" and anyone else working on these conversions. I'm converting some of the model packs I purchased when I was using Unity and it tedious work. I can't imagine all the hours you have put into this. Greatly appreciated. You've done a wonderful service to the GG community. Thank you!

Thanks The Next, this is a much more appropriate place for this thread. Also your welcome Atlantis. I've been very fortunate to recently get support from other members of the community to with the characters.

Going to start adding in all of the Sci-Characters of which "Super Clark" has helped convert for us. They should start appearing throughout the week and following. Here is what you can pick up right now:

- 14 AI Robot Characters Added to Science Fiction Collection
- 8 Aiko Characters Added to Science Fiction Collection
- 8 Colonel-X Characters Added to Science Fiction Collection
- Added "robotic" Character Sounds to Science Fiction Collection

For any character you want to make robotic sounds, just use "soundset = robotic". This will make your character randomly play various audio files for when it dies, or when its injured. Will be adding more sounds for idle, alert and etc. All current audio for "robotic" is from FPSC stock.

FYI, if you ever want your characters to make male or female sounds in GG (in general) just use "soundset = male or soundset = female".

Unlike FPSC, you cannot select the weapon for your enemy within the editor. So I've decided to include even more weapon options for you to choose from. This means you'll have 25 AI Robot Characters. A total of 100 characters will be included in the end, though they will technically be 5 unique characters with 5 variations of textures.

By using this process, I have made each character reference their single .X file, rather than one for each asset. To save up on in game memory. I've also decided to create new texture variations of my own for each character:

I may create different text on the uniforms for characters that are aggro, rather than friendly. When I get some time later in the month I'll fix up the BMP files to match the correct colors.

If you would prefer simpler selection of characters and not a huge stockpile that may come off a bit confusing to sort through. Feel free to check out Super Clark's zip on the forums.

@Teebone, I know your not allowed to take payment for these models but I certainly feel you should be able to add a donate button to your page (with TGC's approval of course), I know I would certainly be clicking that button, buy the man a beer or 3

Hey PartTimeCoder, I really appraise the consideration. I cannot request payment for any of the work done here. While there is a donation link on the page, I cant really tell anyone to use it nor do I expect anyone to. Kind of the same rules Bethesda uses for modders in the Fallout and Skyrim community basically. Also the recent character conversions made I cannot take 100% credit for.

I was considering including many custom models to the collections as I don't really make much sales with what I have in the store and I ultimately just want to help provide resources for people to make games with GG. I've been around a long time and I feel like the best motivation -- is seeing what other people create. There was some concerns that GG didnt provide enough assets to vary the many creative themes people wanted to explore. So I felt it was really important to provide (make available) these resources to the community so their creativity can be boundless.
