I see the notification bell and the amount of notification next to it but i cant open it.

Yeah, me too. I just shrugged them off as residual data from when they switched over to the new style and not important. Anyhow, I was scrolling down the screen semi-randomly and suddenly for the first time actually took notice of "messages" about 57% of the way left of the bell button. That went to where you could open the newest post.
