Hi All,
Find a recording of today's broadcast below:
And here are all your questions I could not reach during the live chat:
Q> Will it be possible create survival games?
A> You will be able to make a limited survival game if you know how to script, but the out-of-the-box experience will probably be when we add the RPG mechanics.
Q> Can we get VR for March release please? Even without any logic or interaction - just being able to walk around and explore would be awesome! Pretty please?
A> There are no plans to add VR for the March 2022 release, we are aiming to finish what we have to a polished level.
Q> Will weapons now transfer between levels? How large will the weapons slots be?
A> Weapons will transfer between levels and be owned by the player during the game. There are nine weapon slots, and key '0' hides the current weapon.
Q> I understand your point "to populate the world with animals" but you should improve AI rigth now! When will you work to have a great improvment of AI?
A> Thee animals are created and animated by third party artists. The logic is done by a community member. The addition of animals is not impacting our core development.
Q> Any ideas what you will do to fix the current linking of keys and doors if they are at different ends of the map?
A> That is a great point. We are looking to improve the visual logic on connecting objects, but connecting them at distance is not currently in our design. The easiest way is to connect them first, then drag the object to your destination. It could be our planned improvement will allow connecting objects at extreme distances, watch this space!
Q> Is it possible to change the player's hud?
A> There are no plans to change the HUD graphics for the March release, but this feature IS planned as part of the Screen Editor system.
Q> Any plans to improve the grass? It seems a little lacklustre at the moment and not thick enough up close.
A> We are planning to refine the grass to work better with the terrain textures and general environment, part of the biome work.
Q> Can we have another way to open doors like modern RPG (Skyrim, The Witcher)?
A> No plans to add new door types for March, but the introduction of VR will likely see the addition of physics based doors that swing open.
Q> Can we have a light system or global ilumination?
A> We already have a light system, just drag in a light element from the left and add to your scene.
Q> Is there a way to completely remove MAX from the system? I seem to have issues with old max installs possibly and would like to start from afresh?
A> You can delete the writable folder in your documents area, and remove the Program Files\GameGuru MAX folder from your Windows drive.
Q> What happened to the physics based action to open doors, will this only coming with vr?
A> See above. Planning physics doors (and other mechanisms) when VR is worked on properly.
Q> Can the AI only see or does audio trigger them too?
A> Currently AI only sees within the cone of sight. We are planning that sounds will also alert the enemy or ally as you would expect.
Q> Can we expect features like dragon age origins in the future?
A> No plans to create Dragon Age in MAX, I would imagine that would take a few more people than we have right now, and a few million dollars.
Q> Will we able to create rivers that flow?
A> There are no plans to create rivers that flow for the March release.
Q> Does GGMax is going to support UDIMS for texture meshes?
A> No plans to support UDIMS for texture meshes.
Q> What about the lakes, waterfalls, and rivers?
A> There are no plans to add specialist lakes, waterfall and river elements. You can of course sculpt the terrain to create your own lakes and rivers, then raise the water table to fill them.
Q> Would you be able to add a volume slider for the music and sound zones? not a huge change but would be really handy?
A> These sliders already exist when you create a standalone game. You also have ambient volume control in the level editor too.
Q> Can we generate the terrain with rocks like sea rocks? Cliffs?
A> We do plan to have a biome system to populate the scene with small rocks (much like we do with trees and grasses now). Watch this space, but might not have time to do this for the March release.
Thanks to all your great questions, more answers for you all next Wednesday at 4 PM GMT.
