It is, you just need to write a script for it, just like you do in almost every other game engine.

What a lot of people don't understand is that there are to sides to AI, there is the actual AI code which is built into the engine and there is the AI control scripts. The AI code in GG is actually pretty good, t's not perfect, but it's pretty good. However the scripts that are supplied is pretty basic and doesn't do everything that GG could potentially do.
So really TGC doesn't need to do anything to AI, the scripts are just examples to get you started, it's up to you to source or create better AI control scripts that take advantage of what is actually there behind the scenes.
