Hi all,

I tried Blender but I dislike it, what do you use for 3d Model generation? What are the models needed by GameGuru, I see only DirectX models in characters for example like archer and others, does someone else model could be used? If DirectX model is the only option what software do you use? Using DirectX converter create strange duplication behaviour.

Thank you very much

GG classic likes DBO, X, FBX (via importer). I have used Fragmotion/UU3D/Gamespace/Truespace/Blender, but I don't class myself as a modeller. GG Max (TGC's new baby), imports FBX,OBJ, X, DBO, GLTF + others I can't recall, although GG Max is still in development.

Naw. GG modeling is segregated from the mainstream formats.
A consequential phenomena of the proprietary .DBO format in this engine.

I personally use older tools like milkshape 3d for all my models and fragmotion for texturing/uvmapping.

These lack the bells and whistles of the more modern tools but get the job done. A few other 3d modelers on here and myself rely on these a lot. They also export the most compatible format. .X

You can download fragmotion for free if you need a tool to convert to and from .x file.
Apart from that any contemporary 3d software will do. LINK to list.

Try some out and see what you like most. There are the big ones like Blender, maya and 3ds max which are industry standard or at least comparable. Then you have the smaller, lowpoly stuff that works just as well for GG like MS3D, Wings3d, Deled or fragmotion.

I don't like Blender either

my tool of choice is Sketchup, it is all i use to model, for unwrapping i use UU3D Pro, for rigging either Fragmotion or Cascadeur, for texturing Quixel or Adobe Substance (sometimes hand paint)
