I've been following the GG Max progress (a little). I've been seeing references to GG Max Beta 2 & 3

In a general sense where is the development of this project at this point? Last September was pretty disappointing, followed in December with the "OPEN" release date announcement.

Are these truly Beta versions? Is the system complete enough that one can begin to do actual development?

Thanks

No - long way to go yet...

But the software seems to be shaping up fine atm

True, it has a long way to go, but it is still fun to see what it can do...

@synchromesh, Bored of the Rings
Thanks for the kind words.

Here is screenshot created in the 04/09 beta where we have no ground texture but does allow me to paint grass and ground texture over the white ground. The only problem is all the painted stuff goes away on a map save. I know lee and the crew will fix this oddity sooner or later.

@Mr Love
Thanks for your thoughts...
I'm not sure "Scale" is the consideration. I think the perceived scale problem could be just the different building types shown. Small deserted miner shacks (cabins) versus a house. I have added a few GGMAX characters and houses as a yardstick.

It's possible, because I've looked at these entities, for so long I just don't see, what might be obvious to others. If others have input about the scale please let me know, because the models are still a work in progress and I am using the time during GGMAX development to iron iron out issues with shacks, houses and trees.

I had not intended to step on someone else thread. Just wanted to give Go Devils an example of how GGMAX is handling images.

Enjoying the scenes m2design.
"I had not intended to step on someone else thread."
Well it sounds like you are! NO< just kidding- it's all a discussion on MAX if I'm not mistaken--
it's like going to the subway and nobody talks to anyone else because -- what?? It's against the law?
Too shy? Anyhow, so you say those are MAX CC generated people? Nice-- thanks for showing.
There's actually not much to see in the weekly broadcasts. It'll be great to see in a few weeks
hopefully I can get MAX, I am investigating it through others, so that's why user notifications
are great. Keep up the STAR reporting..

While the engine may not be ready to start going at it with any serious project development, its great to see all the experimental scenes people are cooking up. Looks great there m2design.

I still think and hope that lee will or must add more functionality to the character creator so that we can really have some very different kind of characters. and hope fully a little pinch better on the quality of the characters.

It's true the character creator needs more work, but this feature is new and not fully flushed out. While testing the current features I have run into several limitations. Limited costume choices and software will at times just exit the creation process and return me to the desktop.

I could not help but make a short video ...

I’m confused? This was supposed to be released in sept 2020 and in April 2021 we are being told there’s still a long way to go, so what gives?

How can you schedule a date, then add another date in December and then say it’s no where near ready!

It went from September to December to Open release ..
Pre-Order Customers got the December release but TGC decided to go back and revamp it all.
I dont recall there ever being an April Release unless it was speculation ?

I didn’t mean there was an April release and I think you may have understood.

I was stating that despite sept 2020 being the original release date given, here we are in April 2021 and we are being told there’s still a long way to go.

Yep i misread that for sure .. I stand corrected.
Yes there is still a long way to go before you can create a game but like i said because TGC decided to revamp there is a lot more being added to Max than originally planned. Its a good thing honest

If they had released it in September it would have been terrible. I'm happy that they are taking some time to get it solid. I can see some are getting a little impatient, but seriously this is the way Dev work can go on without worrying about breaking existing projects, complete changes can be made etc. Once it's officially released it's a done deal, unless we want 6-12 months between updates, or completely different incompatible releases like Unreal etc.
SPECS: Ryzen 1700 CPU. Nvidia 970GTX. 16 Gig Memory. Win 10.
