Hi All,

Intel has started a new YouTube channel called Between 2 Bytes and is looking for a thousand subscribers to get it started. I helped out with the first episode and had a great chat about the good old days. If you find yourself with a free hour, check it out:

If you remember the Commodore VIC-20, this video might be for you

Watching now! My first game was called "The Ninja" and it was text based. It was like a choose your own adventure book.

Cut my teeth first on Spectrum basic, then AMOS on the Amiga then Visual Basic 6 on the PC. Didn't really get further than that.

Still have a vic20 plus software hardware such as william stuart chatterbox speech synth, zx80, zx81 and still have all the original popular computing weekly mags and some computer user mags since 1982. Typed in some progs way back and they still work. I can still remember how to program it (kind of). Fun days. Learnt loads from a guy called Nick Hampshire.

accents are not correct in the video, 4 speaking squares throughout the video, this is a concept, not a complete transmission

Love it! If you have livestreams in the future when nothing much is happening with Max, you should have an open chat where you show your face and just chat about stuff

Oh and a quick question Lee, your web cam looks pretty good what is it?

@Tarkus. I used GAC a lot back in the day and have even used it more recently with emulation I can't remember a lens lock system with it though on the Speccy; maybe that was on other systems? Or perhaps I lucked out with my version from the computer club I was in at the time.
SPECS: Ryzen 1700 CPU. Nvidia 970GTX. 16 Gig Memory. Win 10.

Judging by the high white balance on it, i'd guess it's a logitech 920, or maybe a logitech brio.

if you're looking into doing vlogs, unless you're doing it professionally the camera you use actually isn't the highest priority, you can get away with a cheap camera as long as you have good lighting, it's just like creating a game, without good lighting even the best made game looks trashy, i've seen lighting setups that make a $20 camera look high quality, it makes that much of a difference.

Every web cam I have ever had have been something like 640x480 max res, 320x200 if you wanted it to look smooth, lol. Been quite awhile though, might be even a basic cam these days is okay. Your probably right about it being a Logitech.

Good question (and guesses) on the WebCam front. I got some good advice on the camera prior to the interview, and here is what I bought:

Logitech StreamCam : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07W4DHNBF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Double Ring Light: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B086QX65RZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am pretty sure TGC management doesn't want me to do this regularly. I think they feel I would scare away the fish

Ah yeah the Logitech StreamCam, basically a 920e lite, they're pretty good for the price, and half decent light sources make the picture work well, i wasn't that far off
