Hello,
I've been working on this for some time now and wanted to share. There are times when I feel that there is no point in making this, so I'm seeking motivation and feedback.

I'm using Game Guru and Game Maker together.

Thanks!

Game Name - "parallel" By Relish Romp Games - John H

Game Type - FPS Survival Horror/Sci-Fi

Game Concept – In 2020 a virus broke out across the world. Everything shuts down as people quarantine in their homes. Civilians are filled with anger and frustration. Violence takes place as people demand freedom. China said they have a cure for the virus but only plan to use it on their population. War breaks out as the US, Russia, and Saudi Arabia sends forces into China. China has been forced to attack back using an EMP weapons which cause power outages and electrical damage across the planet. North Korea hacks into a military base in China and gains control of a Chinese EMP weapon. An EMP pulse is directly aimed at Meyrin, Switzerland, CERN. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator. The EMP caused the Large Hadron Collider to create a 'time warp' that sent the universe off course in the blink of an eye and caused a massive power blackout. You wake up in an alternative universe, the Parallel Universe.

GOAL - Survive, Research, and Make Contact with other humans to get back to the alternative universe that you remember.

Game Progression – Research various things, maintain a base, collect items for air, food and water. Research > Mission > New Research > New Mission... etc.

Research Guide
1. Exploration
- 2. Food and Water
- 3. Weapons/First Aid
4. - Communications - (You can operate the radio)
- 5. Power supply
- 6. Maintenance
- 7. Human Experiments
- 8. The Virus
- 9. Time Travel
- 10. Parallel Universe
- 11. Time Travel Device

this looks pretty good! keep it up! but on the 7th screenshot i see you're using way too many tree variants, you're eating up more polygons and memory that way so try using less tree variants

Now that I got 95% of the main UI working, I'll focus on the outdoor levels!

Here is the progress.

To add a youtube video directly embeded in the forum you just need the videos identifier, in yiur case that would be:

OrCl4iCGQGU

Paste that into the post editor, then left click drag to highlight it, and click the "video" drop down above and choose youtube, the code will be added to your post and you will end up with this ...

Thank you Belidos and Bored of the Rings.
I'm using Game Guru and Game Maker together. They communicate together by writing and reading files during missions/tasks.

Game Maker (for the 2D UI/gameplay and Game Guru for the 3D gameplay

I've been using game maker since 1.4 back in 2000 I think. It's a great engine. https://www.yoyogames.com/

Try a quiet delay instead of a reverb on the AI voice. Reverb might not really work for the robot voice coming from the computer because it makes it sound like it's in a big room. Good if she's talking to you in her big computer room (like Portal), but maybe not when she's talking to you from the UI.

Delay might be a better scifi effect for the voice.

Cobbs, thanks!! The player is in a big room, done in GG. This comes up when you access the terminal. But maybe when you are at the terminal the reverb is lower... great idea! Thanks!

Really cool. Using game maker for the ui was a good idea. I have not used game maker but it seems to have much more functionality for ui.

Nevin, I've been using Game Maker since it's birth and worked with Mark to create the loading screen, UI elements and assets for Game Maker 8 and below. It's a great program. I'm pretty sure there is a free version that has a watermark but still functions.

I created something similar using GM and FPSC but never finished it.

Parallel the game - Game Level Demo

Game level demo for a video game that I'm working on. "parallel" It needs a lot of work but I wanted to share. The radar looks odd because of the monitor that I'm using.

Pretty neat work.
"I'm using Game Guru and Game Maker together. They communicate together by writing and reading files during missions/tasks."
Great idea. I tried out Game maker way, way back then. Didn't have the time to put into it.
But I've been trying to (or actually) I've not been doing anything, but I've been thinking only
along the lines of multi-player communication in a similar fashion you mention.

Would there be a way for GG to find a file that was emailed from Player1 to Player2 and put
into a certain folder, read it, then put that text on the screen? And then if you could do that--
would there be any way to put a Text-To-Speach file in your game. Thirdly, could you speak
into your mic, and have that file I guess emailed, read and uploaded by GG for Player2 to hear?

Well, if you could figure out those challenges--- RADICAL time. Back-door MP features....
I guess the only thing similar to set up would be a Skype type stream of your game, but that
doesn't sound actually as interactive? Maybe our high-tech people would know something?
