I am attempting to run the latest Beta 3. After installation I just get a white screen of death and within a few seconds I get a "not responding "
error

I have a new laptop with i7 10850 and 16gb ram etc. I installed in both program files and the x64 path. No joy.

Obviously im doing something fundamentally wrong. Running Win 10 fully up to date as well.

Regards
Matt

What video card does the laptop have? Is MAX trying to use the integrated video instead of the video card?
Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz (overclocked to 4.5 GHz), 128 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1080 ti 11GB, Windows 10 64-bit, dual monitor display

Also the file "Guru-MapEditor.log" will have been written to your writables folder (Documents\GameGuruApps\GameGuruMAX), attach that here for a deeper look at your crash, thanks!
GameGuru Classic will continue to be supported with bug fixes and functionality additions.

Odd ?
That folder is Generated as soon as you run Max for the first time.

Maybe it fails before that can be generated?

I dont understand this at all tbh. This laptop is literally a week old and fully up to date and I have installed a bunch of other game related stuff without incident, COD, Steam and games within steam. After I have extracted the beta to a desktop folder, I get a warning from Microsoft Defender sayings its an unrecognized file, I select Run Anyway and it seems to install fine. It defaults to install in ProgramFiles.

I'm having the same problem. I also don't have an output .log file and I just bought this computer yesterday. Fully meets all program requirements.

Hello, I seam to be suffering from the same issue. Beta 3, click to start ,few seconds not responding. I've tried all the advice on this post but with no luck. Is there another post with more info to help solve this issues? No map editor log either in my documents, only difference is my system is not new. Thank you

Sorry, Win10 home, I5-3340@3.10hz,8GB ram, GTX1660 6gb. I seen a post about setting the video card selection in the setup.ini and was going to try that but couldn't find it again. But I don't know if that would help me out .

is this a Laptop or Desktop?

also make sure you have latest Nvidia drivers installed (not windows default Nvidia) download directly from Nvidia website i think 457.09 is the latest.

Windows 10 seems to work better with MAX if it is the latest build also Version 2004 Build 19041.610 is the latest

If it is a laptop then change settings in Nvidia control panel to always use your Nvidia card rather than the onboard

With regards to choosing your gpu on a laptop, windows recently sneaked in a change which screws with nvidias settings for this, now if you want to manually choose which gpu your software used you have to change it in Nvidia control panel AND go to windows 10 settings > display and scroll down to the advanced graphics link and in there choose your app/program and set which gpu to use. Stupid Microsoft and they're idiot ideas.

Did you make sure you installed the directx part of the install? What c+ redistribs do you have installed on your system as MAX may use specific ones that users dont have installed. Have you tried an sfc scan or chkdsk ? Are all your system drivers up to date and not talking about gfx card driver, you already done that right?
Have u tried disabling any virus checker, disabling/ closing down any other apps/services that could be causing issue.
Unfortunately, if no log file written, the app didnt get that far. Where did u install the app? Are u using windows 10 2004 version? Check gfx card settings, is the gfx card being used/settings correct? For any missing dll, I can tell you what dlls max uses that users might not have installed.
Could be many reasons.

Good Morning, after trying multiple things and I don't know for sure at what point or when it popped up but I got the map editor log. I have attached it. Hopefully this will help to resolve my issue. Thank you in advance for the help!

Looked at the log, gets as far a font loading then thats it. Have you looked at posts above . Sfc / scannow would be recommended , see also GraPhixs post that expands on that which I recommend doing.
