Have just installed max and it will not launch.
Not sure if there is a special way to install, but I have tried installing to desktop and also a folder on C drive.
Tried running as admin, etc.
Splash screen opens then closes and nothing happens.
Event Viewer shows an application error -

Are you running as admin, you'll need admin rights.
I've installed mine in c./program files, and it works fine so far.

I have GameGuruMAX (150420) running on Win7 Pro. 64bit. Got an error on the first run. Changed vrmode=3 to vrmode=0 in setup.ini. Have had no problems since.

Sorry for the delay. I'm running on fully updated Win 10 pro. I am logged in as an admin user and have tried running as admin and also tried installing as admin. Also tried running in compatibility mode as win 8 and same issue - splash screen then nothing. Have uninstalled and reinstalled to various locations and checked permissions to the folder where it's installed.

@ Azmania
Then it looks most like a technical problem, I suggest you press the green help icon, I have never used it before, but it is worth a try.

I would just clear it all up and install to … C:\GameGuruMax … and work with that ( it should run from there )
All this Uninstalling, Re-installing, setting permissions etc is making the problem more complicated than it needs to be.

Looks like you are installing to "C:\GameGuruMax" so likely not affected by write permissions. Can you make a small video of your experience from the moment you run the executable, I can then determine the kind of crash you are getting. Can you also provide your system specifications. If use go to Windows 10 "Type here to search" and type DXDIAG, run it then select "Save All Information" and then email it to me at "lee@thegamecreators.com" I can check out your compatibility and drivers, and I can report back here so everyone can read the solution if there is one, thanks!

Yikes, now that's what I call extreme widescreen!! I suspect it might be the aspect ratio, and certainly worth trying a 16:9 aspect or perhaps 1920x1080 just to see if that narrows things down. I would like MAX to support ultra-wide on release, so as we release alpha builds if you would like to send us log files that may be produced as we proceed, that will help us identify the specific cause of the crash out.

One to add to my questions when trying to diagnose weird one off issues

It's actually a desktop spanned over three HD screens, mainly used for racing sims.
I have tried it on a separate screen at 4K and also 1920x1080 and unfortunately, I get exactly the same issue.

Use the attached SETUP.INI to replace the one in your Alpha Build installation and rerun. It will produce .log files, if you can send those to me I can see how far the initialization gets before crashing, thanks!

Thanks for the LOG file you emailed, it stopped on this line:

"601 : choose VR system with mode 2 S:0MB V: (241,0) "

That means it had a problem setting up the software for Windows Mixed Reality mode. Check if your system meets the WMR requirements from this website: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4039260/windows-10-mixed-reality-pc-hardware-guidelines

Also, a quick way is to type "Portal" into the "Type here to search" box and select the "Mixed Reality Portal", see if it runs or if it produces a check or error. Let me know here what happens, thanks!

How about setting vrmode=0 in the setup.ini just to get you going ?
Perhaps that will bypass it for now ?

ok, I have checked the WMR requirements and exceed them all. Exceed the ultra requirements from the site you suggest.
I use Oculus, so know my machine is capable of VR, although I was not expecting to use GGMax for VR.
I have though set vrmode=0 as synchromesh suggested and that has got it to load and it is now working so thanks for that. It actually works fine on my extra widescreen resolution too.

In case you wish to look into this any further for your own product development (although I am just happy that it is now working as is), my full system specs are -
Windows 10 pro, fully up to date
Intel Core i7 9700K
16GB RAM DDR4
Radeon RX 590
ASUS PRIME Z390-A motherboard

If you want any further information at all just let me know, but thanks for the support and I am now looking forward to using the software.
