Well for an Alpha so far that's not to shabby at all
Installed well, fast loading just a little strange getting used to the new layout.
Love the Behaviour selection and the waypoint system is brilliant
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

Is Game Guru Max compatible with Windows 7? Can anyone else verify it works for them using Windows 7?

Although I'm just noticing this:

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2GHz or AMD Dual-Core 2GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or similar
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 20 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers

EDIT: I have upgraded to Windows 10 just GG Max everything is working perfectly now

I guess you included the same code used for 3D Editing from GG as I still can't edit grass in this mode. The only thing it will do is delete the grass in real-time by either pressing the left mouse button by itself or pressing the left mouse button while holding down the shift key. And, it doesn't save it from real-time back to edit-map. Running it again will show all the grass as before.

I just dropped my dynamic drone in … select behaviour to wander once im in range, speed etc and off he went

I wouldn't worry about the grass right now .. new terrain system, Rendering system and lighting system to go in yet.
This is as basic as it gets. Its more about the GUI and operations I think .
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

At firts glance it works fine, although it is too hard to know what's is working bad or a feature not yet implemented. IE:

I'm no able to save imported entity from GG>entitybank folder; I've tried entering the whole path less the entityname, also entering the full path, of corse pointing to GGMax>files>entitybank>myfolder. I've tried "C:\Program Files (x86)\GameGuruMAX\Max\Files\entitybank\Making LandScape\spooky_manor1.X" as entity path, anyway GGMax keep telling me about "You must have to give a name...." and impossible to save imported entity.

Sky maybe need a little work as well, below pic belong to night sky, I've pics on tha sky in GG, and it looks better.


Edit: Just to add something:
We should take advantage of the fact that we are starting from scratch to do things right from the beginning and not repeat the same mistakes.
GGMax should add some tags to classify the entity by category, and the user should be forced to choose a tag before saving the imported entity. imho.


I can zoom in & out, but I can't orbit via rmb.

I like the way the mountains as done now, non-rounded mountains.

Heavy rain is not that heavy. Weather sliders in tab tab must be nice, as water system does.

At noom I hope to try the Character creator.

At noon I plan to test the jewel in the crown (Character Creator)

This was a rock which imported fine which being an Alpha I didn't expect it to even work.

Very minor issue. I installed MAX to:

C:\Program Files\GameGuru MAX\

And selected to have a desktop shortcut made. The shortcut is looking for MAX at:

Under Target:
"C:\Program Files\GameGuru MAX\Core\GameGuruMAX.exe"

Under Start in:
"C:\Program Files\GameGuru MAX\Core"

However, there is no "Core" in the install directory. Within the GameGuru MAX folder, there is a "Max" folder, but no "Core". The "Max" folder contains the GameGuruMAX.exe the shortcut is looking for. The main folder has the GameGuru Launcher.exe.

Edit:

GameGuru MAX does not run for me. I get the following error:

Runtime Error: 105: ggcontrolmode.ini. ()

Edit 2:

Sorry. Should have said from the beginning - I'm running Windows 10 with the latest updates.

Edit 3:

Uninstalled MAX and reinstalled to the download directory where I had originally downloaded the install file. The Shortcut is still wrong (looking for "Core" instead of "Max"), but clicking the launcher executable successfully launches MAX now.

Ty for the tip. I don't mind it being at the top rather than closest to path txtbox.
Does it should be added to the entity library once saved?
It is copied as expected although as dbo rather than X file in GGMax entitybank>myfolder, but it is not in the lib windows.

Edit: close>open GGMax and now the model appears listed in lib as expected.

I've experienced that issue with the shortcut as well, I should to redirect shortcut to launcher.exe, now it works as expecter, althought I haven't any issue when installing, and GGMax work fine atm.

Only problem I found...
It try to install in the Unzip Folder, and the Desktop Icon refer to the wrong File.

Will do more indepth testing later today....

I am truly impressed. Had to update to Win10 to get it running, but hell, worth it.
Of course it`s still the old renderer, so visually nothing new yet, but the (very few) character creator options look pretty polished.
Lipsync and gestures when playing (even custom) voice overs are really good, I think we will have a boost of adventure- and RPG-inspired games coming up.
Testing next with my custom maps and assets.

Impossible because NOTHING has been changed from Classic yet in that aspect of MAX, it's still the Classic rendering system. The only thing graphical that has changed is the GUI.

Again, what are you talking about? The terrain system has not been changed, it's the same terrain system as Classic, so there should be no difference yet lol

(It might look different to you because you have spent years tweaking settings etc. and this is a complete fresh install without any changes to setup.ini or settings.fx so is displaying default?).

I've installed GGM in ""C:\Program Files (x86)\GameGuruMAX\" but get the following error when launching.



EDIT: Seems like GGM MUST be installed to where the installer defaults to. Works fine now.

WTF, Father`s Island map loaded and ran with double the FPS. Some Lua script errors and a crash on video startup, but everything else worked out of the box

Bullguard Internet security says GG max is a suspicious file. Just so you know, had to flag as a false positive.

Loaded up Max then it closed immediately and Bullguard deleted everything in the Max folder, and reported it as Malware. Tried to install twice same result don't really want to switch of my antivirus. Anyone else had this.

When hovering over a thumbnail in the Entity Library, it doesn't seem to pop up an enlargement of the image like Sneak Peak Video #4 does.

EDIT; Weird! I closed the EL, reopened it and now the large thumbnails do pop up!

Looks great so far, start-up time is less than a second with a hugely improved UI, both 'look and feel' and operation.

Suggestion - add an "advanced options" menu to allow the setupi.ini flags to be modified - many of these will be able to be adopted in real-time.

A brilliant start to Max - I really like it, however it's the source code that floats my boat these days, so I'll come back in September.

I actually received my copy of GG Max a few weeks ago... called VR Quest.... hahahahaha

Nice job guys.. I love the new looks.....

Is there a comparison chart between GG Max <> VR Quest

I bought both, but think I might waste money on one or the other....

. Loaded in the sample level.
. In game, raised the water level to 61
. Tested game
. Exited game.
. In game again, lowered the water level back to 50.
. Exited game.
. Vegetation has disappeared.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I had the same trouble Tarkus1971. Seems like you cannot change where to install it. Just use the default installation, which happens to be inside the folder you're installing it from.

The only issue I'm having with the UI is the paint texture icon. It does not look like an icon to paint anything. Instead, it looks like a large band-aid or something. I'd change this so that it visually tells the end-user what it is (at least a bit more than the current icon).

This is really impressive so far, a few glitches, but hey, it's alpha. Issues so far:
FYI-installed to just my C:\ root drive. Made sure I ran with admin mode.
1-orphan desktop shortcut, had to create own to add to desktop.
2-had to update setup.ini to set vrmode= 0 to remove an additional window being shown.
3-made a quick level and painted in some waypoints. uber character went down the hill (head turned to the right) and then went around in circles, but no circled waypoints (will post screenshot/video as soon as poss)
4-imported dragon from GG classic , scaled and unscaled , got error. copying over all the dbo files, stopped error (see screenshot attached). Dragon looks good though, nice and smooth.
5-when importing an object, window stays in terrain tools mode instead of importer mode (see screenshot attached)

still loads to test out. fast startup (using my new gear) and UI is awesome.

As far as I know one will have violence disabled and the other will not. Not sure what other differences there is or will be?

Works on Win7 Pro 64bit . I got a dll error on first try, but changed the "vrmode=0" as per Preben. Everything seems to be working so far. Installed to E drive.

Shortcut points to GameGuruMAX.exe

Very solid start team, I wasn’t expecting much with this build but I was surprised at how well it ran , I will play more later

Amazing work so far guys.
GG maps working fine in GGMax.
Just the audio zones I wasn't able to select them, even locking the nearest entities.

Imported my old map and some of the lights are broken now. They still work on the terrain surface but not on the surface of the entities.

@3com , the old sound zones is not in the _markers folder , you can copy them over by hand and it will allow you to select them

\Game Guru\Files\entitybank\_markers\

And yes "vrmode=0" in setup.ini will disable all VR and allow you to run on windows 7.

Got it to run with some jiggery pokery, very nice UI, so slick and very quick to use, and that search function is very very much needed. Nice one Lee and Preben and everyone else.

If you click on something in the right hand panel. You have to click in the terrain window in order to use the cursor keys to move around again. This is a bit awkward if you're not in the right place in the terrain window as you could end up placing something somewhere you don't want it in order to be able to move to the place where you do.

I did, in fact i've copied all the _marker folder, but with not to avail, these sound zone becames uselectable, and I want to delete them.
Anyway it is not big issue for me, just for sake of reporting bugs. Ty for the tip.

@MadLad Designs: You dont need to click , the mouse just need to be above the editor area

@3com , just made a test using sound zone , and yes it they was not selectable in Max, but after i copied the two files over i was able to select and delete them , so give it another try

@Preben. The mouse is over the terrain editor window but moving left / right just moves to the next terrain texture and shows a pop up where the mouse is (the pointer isn't visible in the screen shot but it's at the top-left of the pop-up terrain image).



EDIT: Ok, kind of solved it. Just click somewhere on the top menu toolbar.
