Just trying to find out if I can trigger an external URL with a zone? Trying to find a way to do this, can't seem to find info on this thanks

Yes this can be done in lua using the os.execute command.

e.,g. os.execute("start <your url here>")

Most languages have this ability, nothing unusual. I used it to run emulators when you interacted with an in game console agesago.

@Dvader- yes remember that and it was excellent.

I use it sometimes , to open up notepad++ or to run an external tool I've written. Maybe Gluteus is using it to trigger websites that have helpful information depending on zone walked into.

I agree. The uses can be valuable, however. Also, we can't exclude the freedom to use what the programming language allows. I actually programmed into RPGmod to allow for not only being able to access a URL but also to play flash movies. I, personally would use it as a method for gathering info for the game. I intended in RPGmod for it to be used in an educational institution for educational gaming.

I remember using it in game load menues, it coming handy to get info in the cloud, as example game scores , handle databases, etc.
