Good style. Everything has a certain polish to it that makes it look "expensive". Nice stuff, looking forward to more.

If you've checked out the Game Guru Discord lately, you might have seen I've recently been working on a four poster bed model. It has now been completed and I'm so happy with it, I've decided to put it in the store for you all to enjoy!

I've still yet to properly sit down and learn Blender but this model gave me a good excuse to get to grips with its cloth simulation tools, something I really enjoyed. It took a lot of finessing, particularly with the two layers of curtains, but the results speak for themselves I think.

Furnished with a full suite of 4K textures, there's some intricate detail in the normal map to intimate carved wood panelling.

As well as some very economic detailing like these rope tiebacks that just help bring the whole model to life.

Four poster bed (PBR)
Total polys - 10,131
Texture size - 4096 x 4096
Four poster bed (PBR): $4.00

I needed to make some medieval-style wooden walkways and have decided to approach this in a very modular way. Hopefully I can cram a couple of designs into the one atlas texture, but this meant thinking very carefully while modelling about what components I will need later. This somewhat strange image shows all the elements I think I need to texture (brown), plus the bits I only need for reference or the AO map (white).

More progress to follow...

UV was a bit of a pain, despite the fact it's mostly cuboids (because there's lots of them). Getting the scaling right so each bit takes up an appropriate amount of space on the UV but not too much (which I believe is called texel density) was tricky. Seems to have worked out OK though, so now I can begin texturing.

Getting there with the texture. Still only a color texture at the moment, but hopefully it won't be too difficult to create the matching normal, metalness, and gloss maps; that'll really bring it to life.

Thanks guys!
More work done to the color map, and now I've moved on to the normal, metalness, and gloss maps. Time to crank up the atmospheric lighting

This section is a bit of a test; theoretically it's the perfect size to use in grid mode in Game Guru to get an endless bridge/walkway.

I recently invested in a few packs of 4K textures from CGAxis and I'm reasonably impressed with how they've turned out. Here's a detail shot showing the different wood grains.

And here's another one to prove the detail is underneath as well!

Thanks dude! Yes, it is for my game but the plan is to also put it in the store before then. I've gone to the trouble of making it so why shouldn't others benefit from that? At least, that's how I see it...

I have spend a few days learning a little more about Blender's rigid body physics simulation tools in an effort to create a "destroyed" or "collapsed" version of the walkway. The idea is this would form part of a jumping puzzle in my game.

My first attempt looked good but was wasteful polygon-wise. This new version is a bit more economical, and the physics simulation really lends a realism to the distribution of the various pieces.

I need to do a little more work creating different sections out of those wooden walkways, and I fancied a change this week, so instead I moved on to something different. I needed a couple of medieval banners and flags for my level but rather than just make two for me, I figured I could probably squeeze a varied selection onto a single atlas texture and make a little pack for you all.

A few day's work later, and here's what I've got so far.

I think I'm going to change the texture for release (the bull emblem is just for me ). For six of them, I utilised Blender's cloth simulation tools, resulting in what I think are some very natural-looking folds.

My latest pack, Medieval flags & banners, has just been released. 16 different flag styles, with two variations of each (blue fleur de lys, and red and white lion). The pack also contains some template textures so you can make your own flag designs.

Medieval flags & banners: $8.50

Hi AE/SB. "in an effort to create a "destroyed" or "collapsed" version of the walkway."
Working on collapsed entities; a complete pack of walls, doors, floor, windows,
- you name it even chairs, etc that collapse upon damage would be cool!- I'd even
be a certain customer. It's not that people haven't made a few things of this nature,
but I mean just things that break and fall and a full pack of structures/ objects.

NEW RELEASE
I've finally finished my Medieval Wooden Walkways pack! It features 17 modular assets that snap together when using Game Guru's large snap mode (press B twice). The walkways are in two different styles; free-standing, which can be placed anywhere, and hanging, which are designed to be mounted to a wall. All of the assets use the same set of high-quality 4K textures, these are included as png files but I recommend experimenting with downsizing them and compressing to dds format to truly optimise them for your game.

Medieval Wooden Walkways: $10.00
