Hi OldFlak,, thanks for the comments, I've taken them on board.
[edit-darn I knew I had to update the .ini with custom paths for export custom maps/3d object-thanks for the reminder]

For the Motion Intensity issue, edit the setup.ini in GG and modify the parameter to 0.

Still yet to fix the GG steam install path issue for those that have custom paths. I can either do as I have done before with my programs , add GG install path to the .ini file or have the option as part of the GUI or see if I can find a better key in the registry to check for custom paths, I think I know where but need to double check. I have moved (on my Win10 32 bit) my GG onto an external drive and want to see if the registry gets updated to reflect the move.

Playing around with auto heightmap generator using Perlin Noise. Interesting results so far, so will add in next version I think.

Awesome - look forward to new features

Quote: "For the Motion Intensity issue, edit the setup.ini in GG and modify the parameter to 0. "
Perhaps me be blind lol, but just can't see an entry for that....

This scene took about 15 minutes to make from scratch.

My workflow is:
Bryce - running. HM2GG - running. The GG - running.

Create height-map in Bryce, save out image and open in HM2GG, set parameters and process the image.
Open HM2GG Created fpm in the GG:
- change terrain textures - change skybox - paint grass - add some trees - change fog
-
- Take a picture

With some time and effort will be able to make some really nice levels me thinks

fixed issue with terrain export. now seems to work, not sure what happened but must have somehow overwritten some code that originally worked but didn't when I release v5. converts to .X fine and also .obj. still looking into other issues such as custom GG install path and a small issue with program activation. Hopefully won't be too long before I release the next update.

sorry for delay in the update, life gets in the way and my PC is also going under upgrade (new GFx card) and waiting for parts etc. One day I will buy a new PC, but there nothing wrong with the one I have so I like to upgrade.

I will endeavour to get the next version out as soon as I can.

@JC LEON-Autowelder was free (link removed for now as I will be making major updates to the export code and other in-built tools). Autowelder will now come with small fee £10-15 (not sure yet) as a lot of hard work/time has gone into new updates and progress.
HM2GG version 5 (well 5.1 when I get round to fixing some issues), is £10. I would hold back on purchasing until I get 5.1 out. info on how to pay / receive the app is on the 1st post. Links to the app will not be posted here unless I do a demo version.

@JC LEON: ah ok, Segautowelder was the one u most likely bought. Auto welder is different app entirely, I dropped the Seg bit in the name and added all the welder tools internally. Also, Autowelder xports fpsc levels in its entirety including all markers, lights and entities and weapon huds etc. There is also a basic fpi to lua converter. Plus a better segment creation system.

@Super Clark: I know how you feel, life is pretty hectic, trying to get anything done is becoming increasingly difficult , but somehow finding little snippets of time to play around with code.

Hopefully, I can get back on track soon. I will let you know when next versions become available.

next version of HM2GG (will be 5.1) should be released soon to those who purchased, doing some tests to make sure it runs on default/custom GG install paths and make sure the activation process is nice and smooth again.

Finally, I got round to making updates today and doing some testing. Will be sending v5.1 to all purchasers either tonight or tomorrow morning. thanks again for all that have supported. Apologies again for delay.
5.1 now stores the .ini file in the app root folder instead of on your root drive. You now have 2 parameters for the GG install path, see example below:
installpath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Game Guru\Files
custominstallpath=C:\GameGuru_Repo_masterI\Game Guru\Files

if you have a valid path in "custominstallpath", this path will take precedence and override whatever you enter on "installpath".
So if you have a custom install path that diverts from the default install path then you should enter your new path in "custominstallpath".

You can then choose whether to use say a version you downloaded / compiled from the Github or another path on another drive e.g. D:/steamlibray .... etc. you must include the ...\Files as shown above.

I will be writing a pdf doc and also a video to guide you how to use the app.

Have fun making terrains, I'm addicted to this....

For those that already have the app, you can just click the 2 export checkboxes "Custom Save" and "Export Terrain" and then "Process Image" and the program will save out default filenames in default locations which are:

"Custom Save" --> ...\mapbank\heightmap_imports\BLANKGGMAP.fpm
"Export Terrain" --> ...\media\exports\dbo\terrainFULL.dbo

Will start writing PDF / making video soon to give you more of an overview picture of how to use program.
Please feel free to ask questions or post / PM / email any issues you are having or don't like about the program. It's not a problem.

I'm hoping to add my heightmap generator code (based on Perlin noise) and file versioning and better control of file paths being pointed to for file dialog windows as I haven't had a chance to get these things in yet.

Hi BOTR, i have a bit of a weird issue with the of HM2GG 5.1 I ran it to get the reg number to send you that bit was fine, however
as soon as I close the application it deletes short cuts on my desktop to software and folder short cuts to GG - FPS Creator , entity workshopv2
signsV, fragmation, meshview was completely deleted along with short cuts to my c drive mycomputer.

I have ran it 3 times and every time I put the short cuts back they are removed as soon as I close the program ? do you
have any idea why this could be happening

my system specs are: windows 10 pro 64bit ssd 500gb Drive 16gig memory intel i7-4790k processor 4ghz

how odd, it doesn't do that to my PC although Win10 has done it in the past. My app shouldn't delete any shortcuts. Does any one else have this issue when exiting?

Wait - HM2GG it an automatic virus protection application as well!
lol - couldn't resist....

I be running Win10 64bit Insider (current latest build) and I have no issues with it at all. Definitely a weird one tho....

@Oldflak, ha if only it was a virus checker also

Hmmm, I'll have a look at the exit program code, just to be sure, but it should definitely not delete any shortcuts.

What I will do is remove some cleanup code when user exits and see if it's that. At the moment pc out of action temporarily as I'm upgrading gfx card and waiting for an adaptor.... might be able to update on my laptop later..

Very odd , I also copied exe and media folder to desktop but it doesnt delete any of my .lnk shortcut files. When I get a moment I'll do as mentioned above and send you via email a temp exe see if it makes a difference

As a temp workaround, maybe put exe and media folder in a sub folder that doesnt have shortcuts, until I send hopefully a fix

Hi m8,

I put the folder in a sub folder BOTRings Tools on desktop again still does the same thing,
so I decided to move the subfolder to my C:\Program Files (x86)\BOTRing Tools
and it no longer deletes any shortcuts from desktop now.

I have transferred the whole folder to my F: drive inside a sub folder BOTRing Tools
and it does not delete the short cuts or folder shortcuts anymore also.

this issue for some reason only happens if the folder is on the desktop, so for future
reference i would suggest inform Buyers to avoid this issue for them that have apps
that run solely on desktop like mview mesh viewer or Bitmap2Material_3-1 to install
to the same dir as I have done to be on the safe side.

Good luck on finding a fix but I will stick to this method as its a pain having to put
all the shortcuts to my GG - FPSC and other software back over and over.

Will you be making a How to use guide as so far I aint got a clue how to use...

Thanks SC

Hi Super Clark-yes it's weird how I can't replicate the problem on my PC Win10 x64 and 32 bit and on my laptop. I have however seen some code that cleans up files post app exit, but it only removes these files from the user appdata local temp map_data folder and the folder above that. I will update the code so that it only deletes specifc files from the map_data folder and the folder above so that it doesn't delete anything it shouldn't. I will then resend out to current buyers, but for now, please keep exe/media folder where you been putting them as it seems safer. I put a copy of my desktop .lnk shortcut files in a sub folder within desktop just in case it did happen to me, but it just doesn't seem to be deleting any shortcuts. Hopefully, the code update will fix desktop issue, but have no way of really testing it. Sorry for any inconvenience it caused you. I think the code I used was an old version of a standard function I implemented, so will use newer version. Let's see if this "fix" will work.

[edit]-yes will be creating a PDF/video (first) to show you all how to use.

testing the "Zero Level" value to see what happens when negative values are entered as I found some generated heightmaps (code not yet enabled), the island/level can be quite a way below sea level.

So will update to allow negative values. In the example below , I used -200.
Here , I'm using v5.1.2 but need to update the app version, oops.

Been out all day so not had time to test it until now.... The new version HM2GGv5.1.2

I have activated the new version with the key from HM2GGv5.1

does not
delete shortcuts on desktop,
works on desktop running just in its own folder no sub folder needed,
it no longer asks for the map_data folder in C:\Users\yourpcnamehere\AppData\Local\Temp
and it does not create one.
Tested running from
C: SSD Drive
Drive / F: SSD Drive
G: Disc Drive (All pass fine).

So as far as I can see as Frankenstein said _IT ALIVEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Will be waiting with bated breath for a How to use guide now...... hopefully a Video one I hate PDFs

But will take what is given

Nice work on the quick fixes m8 thanks

@Super Clark: thanks again for the feedback on 5.1.2. Yes you can use the same activation key regardless of version. I was starting to record video this morning but had techy issues. Will be recording one soon. Pdf will come later as they take ages and will always need updating to reflect current versions.

Bit of an update today during some free time (well my lunch break). Found mistake that I had done on the terrain export side.
I will send out after a bit more testing and looking into a weird result I see in Fragmotion (will see if I get same result in the pic below in UU3D), but terrain exporting LOD levels (preset to 3 at present) will be added to next release to buyers.
I messed up here , sorry guys.

[edit-looks better in UU3D but there be an offset square...how puzzling.]

all fixed, wasn't much of a puzzle just errr..... annoying.
looks good in both UU3D and Fragmotion. Will start adding a radio button to allow users to select LOD0, LOD1 or LOD2 (LOD0 being the highest level of detail).

needed a bit of a change, so am endeavouring to realise sculpting the terrain in realtime within the HM2GG tool. Of course you could just go do it in GameGuru, but I quite fancied the challenge of being able to do it within the app. So far added a toggle to turn on/off wireframe mode. hmmm, exciting.....
Hoping to record a video tutorial tomorrow morning while my lovely wife gets up in morning with me son.

The images I used were downloaded heightmaps from Google search, the fused images were auto generated from code I'm testing. There is terrain.party and various heightmap generating tools available. I have 2 other tools, Quixel Mixer and I think the other one is something like L3DT or something , google is your friend....

[update-adding auto generator code for producing Perlin noise heightmaps, seems quite good. Fixed issue with the image/map not changing when fusing 4 images together...was caused if 'convert to greyscale' was still selected....other fixes being looked at now]
