Just thought I would display the results of additional oldshack and tree work
I am trying to refine some of the material (cleaner images) still a ways to go.

@Pirate Myke
It may not be your internet...
I may redo the video, I think I have my mouse sensitivity set to high which may be the cause of the jerky directional problem.
I also need to lower the step speed in the properties for controls in the start marker. I'm pleased that the FPs count retains a constant 60 !

Thanks to every one who has taken the time to view the progress...

Your shacks are fantastic, already using them a lot here. Very good for those dark atmospheric feelings I need. Great stuff.

Thanks. I think this is the first comment that indicates the models are actually being used. I hope there have not been any problems.

Here is a newer video that runs a little smoother (I think) ...

Making a few refinements to a couple of trees not yet in the store . . .

Concentrating on new tree root graphics to help with the stark transition when trees meet with the ground (work in progress)

@M2Design - Yes these are being used, 2 of the shacks featured in my latest project "Urban Histories", not meaning to plug my project but if you watch the latest video in the WIP thread. Your shacks are featured at about 4.33 in the video.

I will be using them more in the 2nd or 3rd level in a large wood with them scattered about, great stuff.

Will you be adding more to the pack ?

Great pack and at a great price as well.

Hope this is what you need. I will be adding 2 more trees and 1 new shack when I have time...

old shacks
https://www.tgcstore.net/pack/11057

Trees
https://www.tgcstore.net/pack/11012

I am also in the process of creating an additional tree pack with 26 new and better trees. This new pack will take some time to prepare and
upload to the store. Hope that those who might be interested will be patient. Having reached the ripe old age of 82 next month
I find it harder to wrap my brain around speed and organization (not an excuse just a fact)

@ m2design
Buyed both old shacks and trees.
As you already know I was away long time from here, so my question is:
Does I've to download your items via GG>file>download items from store still?
If so, getting server error connetion. My conn is ok.

I almost never download items via file>download items from store, so I've about 170+ items to download; no good way to download buyed items, it should have some download button in the item page, this button should remain disable until you pay the item price, then it becames unable to download item directly from there.

Edit: Also I've tried via purchase page, same error server connection, download failed msg. TGC server should have some issue; I'll try tomorrow.

3com, were you running gameguru from steam when you tried to download the assets from the store? If not then that would be your problem, you have to have steam running to use the gameguru asset downloader.

Glad you were able to download the stuff, I was concerned it might be a problem with my store items, guess not.

I have completed 26 new (better) trees and will be creating an additional tree pack soon. Below are a couple from the 26.

Video of six new trees. The effort here was to create a better transition between the ground and the tree and try to reduce the number of poly's required. I have been able to reduce the poly counts per tree by about 50%. The poly count for the 6 individual trees range from 687 to 867.

Amazing work M2Design - those new trees look fantastic and a good low poly count too.

You asked for any thoughts, how about some autumnal colourings in the leaves, browns and dark reds???

Thanks..
I continue trying to refine the little things. Wish I could figure out a better way for leaf clusters, several different concepts have not worked out any better then what I am using at the moment. The other methods violate my goal of keeping the poly counts as low as possible.
Again, thanks for taking the time to review the current status..

Dave..
The last 2 trees shown in the screenshots are 772 and 884. The worst offender of my imposed limit is the cedar tree at 1132. Any thing over 1200 will contain, as part of the tree name, the word "heavy". I might add that the name of each tree will contain the poly count number so the user can make a decision based on the poly count when selecting. Example: "pt_tree 772"

I remember someone quite talented a good decade ago making similar shacks, inspired by the then quite popular "resident evil 4". However, his shacks had a lot of individual planks rendering them quite high poly. You seem to have made a far better compromise between polycount and visual fidelity.
Good work!

Wolf, thanks
I guess compromise and restraint go hand in hand. Can't guess how many times I've had to referee between the two ..
If I don't compromise, and try for too much detail, then Poly restraint tugs me back and forces the compromise. Always looking for little tricks..

Speaking of tricks, can anyone tell me why the characters shown in the attachments don't carry guns anymore...

Got a new texture trick. Note the crazy root distortion thing going on ...
I might have to incorporate this in the other trees as well. What do think?

Thanks to everyone who took a look at this thread and commented. Screenshots of the 13 new trees that I will be putting in the store, soon.
There will be a new tree pack that will include just the illustrated trees in this post. I may add a few newer trees later.

EDIT:
Again thanks for your interest. I will sign off now...I will put the new trees into the store when I have time. I will continue to create models for the store but the forum is a waste of mine and perhaps others time.

Just a quick note...
I have no intention of ending my forum participation. Just bringing my work on trees to a conclusion for now (have run out of ideas). Perhaps I might find some improvements later and will open a new thread on trees at a later date.

Thanks
Onwards to the store work. When the store prep work is finished, I certainly will let everyone know...
