Hello I'm trying to create a new project with the gameguru. However, I have a problem with the screen resolution in the stand alone game. I have a 4k TV and a geforce 1070. Therefore, I can easily display a 3840x 2160 pixel resolution. The standalone game has a much lower resolution.

What am I doing wrong?

I have a 4K Monitor, if I run my games and record a video with NVIDIA Shadowplay (even with the game res. Recording Setting 4K) it records videos only with 1080p. I think the max. res. Is somewhere around 1080 or 1200. But not up to 4K.

Ok, but with me no hd resolution offered.

I downloaded a Demo Level from Gameguru and then published it as a stand alone game.

If I start the game now I have in the menu a button with grafic attitude. Since I can choose between low, medium and high. However, the selection has no influence on the resolution. No matter which resolution I choose, it always stays with the low representation. Can someone explain that to me?

I dont think at the moment there is support for 4k in GG, a dialog box in test game and standalone to enable selection of screen resolution to test and play GG games would be a great addition.

Those settings have nothing at all to do with resolution, that's why they don't change your resolution. They're for the graphics quality, it used to be a big visual difference, but now it's been optimised better it hardly notices, those settings change various settings like the render quality of terrain, entities, grass etc.

In the menu scripts there are sections that define resolutions and which resolution GG, mainly so it can choose which resolution menu images it uses, so i would assume that some sort of resolution menu could be scripted. Whether you can force a different resolution, or those commands only detect resolution, i don't know.

GG uses the nearest resolution to the desktop found in the titlebank
Just wondering what would happen if you added a new one with new resolutions ?

Since screen resolution can be read via LUA its possible to display 2k, 4k etc images. Though just have to keep in mind that they use more memory.

I run Fathers Island in 4k without problems. The game resolution can be literally anything.

Pretty sure it defaults to your desktop resolution. You can probably force it to a res in the ini file at a guess. Whenever I want to try diff resolutions in a standalone (not often) I just change the desktop to the res I want and run it.

Exactly that. On my XPS with a 4K display it goes to 4K and on the x768 mini laptop it runs in that res

If you have an NVIDIA card, try to record a video with shadowplay (set the recording res. to game default). I wouldn’t wonder if your recorded video is only 1080p.

If I record a Forza Horizon 4 Video it has 4K, Gameguru games are at 1080p...
Well, it would be helpful, if Lee could tell us the max res.

Standard Windows video recording is limited to 1080p for me. Not sure if it is selectable somewhere is the settings.

It makes me wonder if your game is visually well made enough to be seen in 4k, or at least that having it displayed in a lower resolution is an issue but that is none of my business.

What you can try is open the setup.ini of your game and change the line "disabledynamicres" to "1". What this does is it disables resolution scaling and makes GG default to native resolution. IF GG can render 4k, it will then do so.

Just a quick note on the disable dynamic resolution setting - this has no effect in DX11 version (dynamic resolution is not supported in the DX11 code so nothing to switch off).

Cheers.

I still have an old monitor by today's standards so can't test 4K. I do however have a max res of 2560x1440 which GG definitely runs at if I want to go that high. I think that is 2K, but not sure as it was never marketed as that at the time. Easiest way to test the res is to take a screenshot with print screen and check out it's resolution. Just double checked it at 2K and it is certainly a 2560x1440 image, so GG defo supports higher than 1080p. Anyone who has 4K should be able to check the same way.

Just tried a video as well, I get the same results. Defo works at the 2K res I can use. Perhaps that is the max? It used to be about the highest res you could get when I got the monitor, 720p TV's were about the norm at the time.
