Hi I have created a new explosion particle effect, I think it looks better than the stock one, I was wondering if the explosion effects file M-Explosion&Fire.cpp could be changed so that a new line in the FPE could be added i.e

so a new lua command 'effect' , this would then allow for different explosion effects for different entities for example this one is for land based explosions but because there is only one explosive effect to choose from this would also be in air explosion too, I would think a more 360 degree fireball particle would suit off ground explosions.

what do you think ?

I always go back to FPSC with quite a number of requests given for Game Guru

We used to have fields in the FPE listed as decal1, decal2, decal3 and etc and I believe those could be called in FPI scripting. We also had debris models that would generate for destroyed objects as well - that would reference their material index.

Nice explosions by the way!

Great work there Graphix - I see we been playing with the same tools

I made a similar suggestion on Git Hub: Explosions - Enhancement Suggestion (#319)

But I really think it should be configurable from the properties tab.

This would make a world of difference to any level. Kind of surprised it is not already there to be honest

thank you for the support if someone will change the code as mentioned above I will donate the ones I have completed, for the Explosions at least the code needs changing to allow us to be able to choose explosions on an entity basis, currently we have to overwrite the default and if there is an update you would lose the custom one.

I am hoping Lee picks this up if there is enough interest I am no programmer but I don't think it would be difficult to make the texture name a variable and add it to the fpe as a new command... but hey I could be wrong

You also need to be able to set the position of the decal.

The way it works now, all sprite sheets animations have to start at the bottom of the frame. So if you have a sprite sheet where animations start at the center of each frame for mid air explosions, they don't look quite right because they are not appearing at the center of the object being destroyed.

A video to show what I mean (not the best quality but):

Please see Git Hub issue #319 Explosions - Enhancement Suggestion where Lee marked it as an enhancement.

Would be an awesome addition

I have still not heard anything about opening up the explosion particles

I have managed to recreate all my previous particles including the fog now, this is a distance based particle on/off type of thing, I have tried to give you the idea by climbing a mountain I know its not much of a mountain but the effect was for height fog

very nice but one have to see the fog around the mountain top before you start to climb up,
and slower transition in the fog would make it perfect.

well done.

@GraPhiX, did we get any of the work that has been done on particles by You or AmenMoses in this November update or is it scheduled for later.
