Is it possible to have two versions of Game Guru installed from Steam? One up-to-date public preview and one fixed at the most recent stable X9 public release? If so, how?

I'd like to do this for testing purposes.

you can copy the old x9 version to a different folder, outside the steam folder structure. then update again to the latest x11 ...

What if I'm already running X11-public preview and want to download a separate instance of X9 without reverting my 'working copy' back to X9?

@Avenging Eagle

1) Copy your current DX11 version and rename it to Game Guru DX11
2) Go to steam and select public-release-last-dx9 and let it do its business.
3) When done rename the DX9 version to Game Guru DX9
4) Rename the DX11 version back to Game Guru
5) Create a shortcut to the DX9 version on your desktop

Note:
1) Copying and renaming the whole installation saves downloading a ton of models during the install process.
2) Your DX11 version must retain the name Game Guru to get updates.

In my experience you can have multiple versions of GG installed but they all must reside inside the Steam\Steamapps\Common folder.

A pic:

Hope that all makes sense

However be careful …
The two can conflict and cause issues .. Its never been a stable issue running 2 versions on the same PC
If strange things start happening that will be the reason ..

What I would probably do is get the latest DX11 version , then rename the "Game Guru" folder to say "_Game Guru" and then recreate an empty "Game Guru folder". then install from steam the X9 version which should go into the new folder. Might try if I can get a chance later. At the moment I have dual OS with new/old versions of GG.

I have already done this and keep the Last_DX9_Public_Release on a separate drive …
I could upload it to Google Drive and PM you a Link i guess.

EDIT … Having said that its nearly 8 GIG as the basic install so not really ideal for a Google Drive Download ..
