There isn't really a News thread.
Info is kind of all on Github and around product chat with users showcasing their contributions to come and discussing whats happening.
Its a kind of stick around thing and keep up or just wait for an update like normal

yeah, I think the only news now is if a new DLC has been released/updated. I would go to github really and try and keep up with things that way. I've yet to join discord etc, don't have time at the moment for that.

In other GameGuru news, we are steadily working on tweaks and features on a number of fronts, the most exciting one being an improvement to the engine memory use, so your levels will take less video memory to run. This means smaller memory footprint, faster loading and faster rendering, not to mention increased compatibility on lower end systems. For more information on this improvement and others, feel free to check out our GitHub site and see what the community of collaborating coders are up to!

From the TGC update today.

I miss the weekly news, the daily dev blog entry and the weekly Twitch broadcast. I have taken to reading the Financial Times instead.

There may have been a weekly dev update that got changed to fortnightly, and of course the Twitch broadcasts. Be great to have a Twitch broadcast from Lee or someone in the "know" telling us about some of the new improvements and features that are in now and to come in the future.

I think the twitch broadcasts just ran out of ideas ..
Once we had seen all the usual the requests just got more complex and not really doable in GG out of the box and in only 30 mins of course.
Blender character importation etc .. Perhaps now is a good time to catch up with a couple of broadcasts but again after a few new ideas will start to dry up ..

Apart from that.. its already been said go here for the very latest up to the minute updates ..

I visit Github updates, but it would be nice to see it all in action via maybe 1 or 2 Twitch broadcasts, even if people can't get there live, it's nice to "catch up" and see how things fit together, so far so good with the new updates though all working great here.

Maybe it was this I was remembering: https://www.game-guru.com/devblog/

Towards the end I suppose it wasn't quite daily but certainly updated frequently enough. Ah... those were the days!

Before the transition and rebranding to GameGuru, Lee kept an extremely detailed daily blog about all of the progress of FPSC:Reloaded. It is still archived for browsing here:

http://fpscreloaded.blogspot.com/

512 entries in just over two years, usually he made daily posts. I really loved reading it and it kept me and many others engaged and updated on all the struggles and successes. I always appreciate daily/weekly dev updates and feel like a certain level of consumer engagement is lost when these stop.

I do miss when FPSC Reloaded (GG) was young and just developing during its alpha with those fun filled Lee blogs. Good times. Believe it or not but Unity and Unreal were not free yet when FPSC Reloaded was under development. I think when those two engines became "free" that really changed the expectations from some people :/

Ye but there not really free are they... You don't own it … " Free to use " maybe

But either one could change their agreements in an instant … Just like they did for all those poor monthly subscribers that payed the fee and lost it all last time ..
