An Urban Explorer - A Exploration/Puzzle Game for Gameguru.

You are tasked to explore an apartment block to find out what happened to the residents that used to live within.

The place is left in a state of desolation and decay. Set at night, the game will involve environmental puzzles, locked doors and a lot of storyline. Lots of custom scripting too.

Just 1 level, but a big one.

Will be using amenmoses excellent pick up script to enhance the game, I will also add a timer to the pickup so the player gets tired if carrying something heavy (I hope)

Cartoon shader settings from preben will be in use also, not to mention some scary sounds.

Some screens of bottom floor below.
Aftershock Quad Core AMD FM2+ 3.5 GHz 8GB Motherboard and Processor, A7700k apu, Asus GT970 STRIX 4gb Nvidia gfx card.
King Korg Synth, Alesis SR18 Drum Machine, Akai MPX8 sample player, Roland Fantom XA Synth, Axus Digital AXK2 Digital Drum Kit, Novation Ultranova Synth, Waldorf Blofeld Synth, Roland D05 Synth Module, Bluedio Victory V Headphones, AKG K141 Studio Headphones, Lenovo Ideapad, with Windows 10 64bit, 8Gb Ram and AMD A10 7th Gen Graphics.

i think you may have overdone it with the shaders a bit. I notice the cartoon effect, but it looks like you either:
1. have GG depth of field on which would likely mess with the cartoon effect
2. the cartoon effect is just bad

but it sort of results in a screenshot thats just kind of blurry all over. perhaps better composition would have helped.

I do like how there aren't electric lights on in the abandoned building, however I think static lighting and changing the colours further away from the default reds whites yellows and light blues would do wonders for the appearance. I also think that perhaps using windows, flashlights on the ground, and maybe the occasional burning object would give the game a better look, as many lights appear to be without source

some good points, thanks Bugsy, yes I was hoping by now what with the DX11 work under way, better lighting would be added.

you can add it yourself, with static lighting! (which would work better in x9, the gameguru that still kinda works)

Hmm.

I gotta be honest, visually this seems to be a large step back from saviour. Despite the cartoon effects, nothing matches.
I also think this would really benefit from lightmapping. I like the idea behind this though.

The seemingly random boxes in the level are distracting to me too.

Saviour is on hold until dx11 is done, so this is a quick idea that will hopefully be a short walking sim. Yes the boxes are only there as placeholders, for more detailed stuff later. Will post a video when there is more done.

excellent sound design and music, great huds too. this project is really starting to go somewhere, and the visuals even look better than the pics, but I still wish objects would actually cast shadows that had to do with their lightsources instead of this "dynamic lighting with outlines and AO" thing you have going on to hide it.

also, good job making a 9 minute level!!!
