Can any clever person please program and change it that when you accidentally press F1 to F4 that the editor ask you if you really want to use the light mapping.
it is so frustrating , the Esc and F1 buttons sits next to each other and it is so easy to accidentally pres F1 , and then everything is a nightmare on the Pc.
Please if it is possible just modify the editor and update it so that we can get the modification as soon as possible .

Ps... if we are lucky maybe someone can fix it in one day. lol

If you accidentally hit one of the F keys to start light mapping then you can cancel it by holding the escape key down, after a while it will cancel.

As Belidos says - but there most certainly should be a prompt to ask if you really want to do that - since most of the time you don't

But I have been asking for that since day one soooo.......

The probably easiest way to go is to make it Shift+F1,F2,F3,F4. It takes an awful lot of time to end the process by holding ESC.
The most sesnisble thing to do were to make the lightmapper run from a menu only, by a mouse click.
This is definitely not a functionality that needs fast keyboard access.

ugh , I totally sympathise, the amount of times I accidentally hit F1 and try ESC but nothing happens for ages. If I get some time, I might add a prompt to the source code.

I never had the problem, but I understand that this is really frustrating.
If you want to add a prompt, the lightmapper start is in the M-Game.cpp at line 2060
I would do it myself, but I have some other things to do at the moment

Ive requested a confirmation prompt for this years ago... a MUST have ... I held ESC for over 5 minutes once on an accident lightmap, totally messed up my map as well afterwards.

But the backup was ok right ...... Don't tell me I will guess

Although I don't recall ever doing it a prompt is obviously a good idea ...

I vote for the shift+Fn approach, much harder to do by accident and I really don't like those 'are you sure' dialogues, get enough of those generated by windows itself.
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

Well it could just say "Confirm "
Not all desktop keyboards have an "Fn" key including mine ... There more common on Laptops

No. I was editing in F9 mode. All progress since the last save was lost.

Thanks Bored of the Rings for this update.

just need write access for creating a branch from the master branch. I can only seem to create a branch from my own fork (unless that's the only way). Still figuring out the Github process.

Was able to get two of my contributions in and merged after Lee had approved. I created branches from my fork and sent the pull request to the master for review.

short vid showing the fix. Press Shift+F1 to F4. no audio.

Just searching for the code that displays the Lightmapper HUD so I can update the text. Need to also update the keyboard layout help pic (when running test game mode).

I noticed the . That's certainly a good preventative measure as well. The prompt however I think is an excellent addition as well as it reaffirms what the F# keys do and makes sure the user knows what is going to happen if preceding. However holding an additional key is a great way to prevent accidentally keystrokes good thinking guys

this fix has now been merged with the master source code on Github (thanks Lee), so should be in the next version.
