I thought I would put together some parts that may be used by the level designer to construct their own buildings. I wanted to give as much flexibility as possible to the designer so every building would be unique. I quickly realised that required a great deal of components (models).

I realise the EBE offers this facility but relies heavily on re-textured components to achieve variety. I wanted my kits to offer a variety of textures for any given component but also both the ability to 'convert' a component and offer a good variety of components. Hopefully the pictures below show this. They show a couple of the components with different textures and added components. I think the total components for this kit will equal around a hundred and I would price at about $10 the entire kit. What do you think?

The third picture belows shows an example of a small barn put together with a few of the components.

If this kit proves to be of interest to users then I will expand the idea into other kits. I plan to release this kit before Christmas (this year ).

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Ken

Started work on the stone barns. Getting the roof timbers correct for the T joint has been interesting.

A quick an easy 2-story barn made with parts from the kit.

And upstairs in the barn

Add an internal wall in this mix'n'match pack. You should be able to create any number of barn type buildings.

Got 80 components completed now. They all seem to work well together. Here are a couple of screen grabs showing a simple construction using just five of the components. Took me less than a minute to put together in GG editing mode. I have shown the building with two different simple lighting settings. Pretty sure you level builders could do a better job than me with the lighting.

You are probably right Granada but I tend to treat model making as a hobby and I like receiving comments on my work (preferably good Lol). However I take your point and should also consider other artists that do this to make a living.

EDIT: So as I promised the pack for around $10 I will release by 20th December and offer it at that price until say end of December. A kind of Christmas thank you to the community. Then I will put the pack up to say $20.

I've done some steps for getting up into upper floors of the barns ETC but thought a climbable ladder may also be a good idea. Especially for those inside only levels.

Have to say Ken this is coming along superbly, any idea when it will be up in the store, as soon as I see it, consider it a definite purchase from me, so many excellent interiors.

Will you be adding any furniture, scenery and clutter to this pack?

Keep it up.

Hi Tarkus

I intend to get it in to the Store by around the 20th December or earlier if possible. And yes there will be some bits n pieces to help decorate the interiors.

Thanks for your comments.

Hello All

Sorry to say I will not be releasing this pack in December as promised. It is ready for release but for reasons stated in the thread below I feel this is the wrong time to release any more models.

OK I've had a think about this and have come to a decision.

This pack was basically ready for release into the shop before Christmas but with Lee's pre-release for testing of the new engine I backed away.

It seems there will as it stands be a number of problems with my models in the new engine although I expect Lee will sort these out with the rest of the problems before the final release.

So under the circumstances I have decided to go ahead and release the pack but with one difference.

Rather that it being available for purchase through the shop I am going to release it for free via my own web site.

Please watch this thread for release date/location if you are interested.

Thanks. Ken
