Thanks Myke just sized it up correctly and got it into gg to have these as weapons in GG :/ would be really cool if the hammer animated and you got the pre flash before firing

As a former competitive black powder shooter in the N-SSA (over 15 years worth!) I'd love to see some weapons of this type. That said there's a few caveats you might consider:

1) Realistic reload times of 20-30 seconds per round!
2) Pistols should use the realistic reload of 5 minutes for a 6 round revolver, however. (not exaggerated).
3) Damage should be absolutely grievous. Our modern weapons are great, but there's something magical about shooting a 58 caliber, 460 grain full wadcutter slug at 50 yards and just absolutely decimating something.
4) Don't forget percussion caps with black powder too those made life much more liveable.
5) Let's get lee to get some good volumetric fog in so we can really 'live the experience' of shooting black powder and getting a massive plume of grey smoke after each shot
6) Add smell-o-vision to allow that wonderful aroma of black powder after a volley.
7) Add black powder as a seasoning for foods in game. In case you weren't aware, black powder is edible (It's primarily charcoal, potassium nitrate, and sulfur) and actually tastes pretty good on french fries...

All kidding aside, that gun looks real good. Probably one of your best models yet.

The 303 is probably one of the loudest rifles I've ever heard, barring say a 30-06 or a .50 cal

You were a tanker? Lucky man

We shot cannon and mortar, but they were civil war era so 3" rifled black powder. Still, it was a hell of a thing to watch. The Mortars were terribly inaccurate but shot 18/24/40 lb balls of metal, so that was fun.

I've had a lot of time with the old Lee Enfield 303's, they were the longest ranged, most accurate rifles of their time, and even today compete well against modern sniper rifles. I spent many a day doing rifle drill with them, twirly twirly

I used to be badged artillery, and had a lot of fun with cannons, especially 25lb'ers, i had the great pleasure of blowing out all of the windows in Vicarage Road (Watfords football grounds) when they let us do a display there many years ago, the sound of the cannon firing was funneled by the structure surrounding the pitch and it shattered all of the observation windows lol, that wasn't very well thought out tbh :p

LOL can just imagine the cannon's and mortar's black powder does tend to pop quite nicely bet the cannon's were fun
@ Belidos yeah m8 brilliant rifle really accurate we used to drill with them in cadets and fire them out a Beckingham nothing quite gives thats satisfying kick like they do but a deadly rifle without a doubt and with a scope........
Better than that pile of junk sterling they gave us you be better either throwing it at the enemy, hitting the smoke dischargers, or decoupling the gpmg if you had time, or of course run like the clappers lol

A couple of stories about the Bren gun.

First one was during basic, because of the weather we were being taught rifle drill in a drill hall with a nice polished floor, in waltzes the instructor from outside where it's nice and wet, wearing nailed boots, after about six steps he lands flat on his backside. I make the mistake of laughing rather loud, the next thing i hear is "Mr Lloyd! Go to the armoury and draw a Bren!"... "a Bren sarn't?" ... "Yes Mr Lloyd, a Bren, that will be your weapon for this session!" .. Let's just say my shoulders have never hurt so much in my life lol

Second one was some time later, three of us were tasked with "disposing" of the left over ammunition when they decided to completely decommission the remaining Bren guns. An hour later, thousands of spent round, and 9 melted barrels later we handed them in with bg grins on our faces

One interesting factoid I learned while shooting black powder.
The british black powder rifles had a completely different style to them. This necessitated a completely different shooting stance.

You see the primary difference on American muskets vs British was the design of the stock.

The American styled ones had a curved, comfortable stock with a rounded buttplate:

The British styled ones had a flat butt plate and a very square stock.

This was because at the time, the British took 'face your enemy like a man' very seriously so you ended up in a nearly Isoceles style triangle stance.

You faced your chest towards the enemy.
Americans, however, wanted to present a smaller side profile so as a result we shot like this:

Which was viewed as cowardly by their British contemporaries.

Yeah m8 they wasnt very bright back then lol
@ Bugsy ignore the wick thing m8 bit later the hammer hit a striker "flint"and so lit the powder there was a delay between strike and fire quite unique in its own way, dont know if mine are actually good enough to work with m8 but if you want me to try to better any of the parts just shout

I was completely wrong, what with the string thing and the 2 minute reload time, I am nowhere near talented enough to animate something like that, sorry to waste your time
