Hey Guys,

Yeah it's once again me with a question about gameguru. I just want to check out the possibilities right now with gameguru top down shooter games.

I wrote this comment to Lee on youtube:

"I want to ask about further top down game support: Right now a third person character can not take keys, ammo, change weapons, use anything at all....
I really want to make a cool Top down shooter but I cant, due to the limits with gameguru right now. I know, there are tons of features asked but I want you to be aware of it. Are there going to be any changes this year to support top down games more? Any answer would be much apreciated. Kind Regards "

One of the more recent updates completely opened up the player control logic as a massive LUA script so you can jump in and code your own third person/top down control/display behavior for the player. That said, I understand most users come to GameGuru so they don't 'have' to code, so yes, we will be extending Third Person support, but expect the community to beat me to it Shorter-term, there are a few commands requested which will make it easier to control the weapon attachments but general stuff like collecting a key and opening a door should be possible right now. One for the GameGuru forum perhaps..

A great thread is from synchromesh - He fixed the "aiming" problem, this really encouraged me to pick up a top down project again.

NOW, I wanna show you a small video of Shadowgrounds (I will post a video later, I am uploading atm) , one of the (in my opinion) best top down shooters of the last 10 years. I also wanna mention the Alien Shooter Series (Video below) from Sigma Team and also Hatred wich also was a lot of fun.

In this video you can see the movement behavior and generally the controls of Alien Shooter 2. I love this game and the controls are very good.
It would be awesome if we could get gameguru to behave kinda like that:

- Cursor-like camera and shooting

- make the character pick up weapons and open doors and such.

yes, agree some more basics for top-down shooters would be great.
I'm waiting for a bugfix for the AI, then I can continue my top-down shooter...as far as it is possible.
