Hi all
@warlock12 made a suggestion in this thread about a thread just for posting links to good texture source sites - so I thought I would do just that.

So if you know any sites that are good sources for legal textures post them in this thread.

I will add any links provided by others here, along with links to terms\faq\about, and who kindly posted the info

Perhaps if it becomes useful the Mods will make it a sticky

One thing you need to remember -
Don't take anyone else's word for it - ALWAYS check the licence for usage terms - and make sure you understand the terms, and adhere to them when using the images.

Wow Reliquia!!! Nice site!!! Ty Man!!! Its good!
MMM... I love this section: http://www.mb3d.co.uk/mb3d/Gauges_Seamless_and_Tileable_High_Res_Textures.html

My favorite is https://www.textures.com

Textures.com... is a website that offers digital pictures of all sorts of materials. We have pictures of fabrics, wood, metal, bricks, plastic, and many more. These images are called textures and can be used for graphic design, visual effects, in computer games and any other situation where you need a nice pattern or background image.

You can download up to 15 images for free every day. If you need more or bigger images, you can purchase a credit pack or a subscription. The How it works page has more information about download quotas.

Our website was founded in 2005 as CGTextures.com, our images have been used by practically every game developer and Visual Effects company in the world. Our library currently has 118,565 images, and continues to grow every week.

Hi all
another cool site is:
TextureMate.com
Royalty free, no attribution required (nice to give it though), for commercial and non commercial use.

The site is run by an nice guy named Bill Scott, and his terms are more than generous.

The only thing you need to watch is that you only select images from the top section of each page, because the ones below are google adds to other images.

I usually steer clear of sites that are heavily laden with googles ad garbage, but there are some good images on Bills site and the usage terms are worth the pleasure of ignoring googles ads

@warlock12, wow freestocktexture site look real cool, nice find man.

Yeah I think music would be another great feature for this kind of post, but it could probably be titled a bit better for that - like 'Media Source List', EDIT mod request removed

Will get onto it after work tomorrow, my eyes want to stay closed atm (useless things) so off to that horizontal slab in the next room!

Thanks for the input.

To be honest, personally i think it would be better to have separate threads for textures and audio, it would be easier to keep track of, and easier for people to look up.

Primary Desktop:
i7 7700,k NV1070 8GB, 16GB 3200mhz memory, 1x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.

Secondary Desktop:
i5 4760k, NV960 2GB, 16GB 2333mhz memory, 1x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.

Laptop:
i3, Intel 4000 series graphics, 6GB memory, 1x 500gb HDD, Win8.1.

What about that @warlock12, perhaps you can start a thread for music?

For the record I make some of my own textures. I go outside, look down, and snap a picture. I pick a spot that looks reasonably plain and without any remarkable features. I try to avoid things like irregular features, cracks, rocks, etc.

I then cut off the part with my feet resize it to 1024 or 2048 depending on what I'm making it for, run it through this tool:
