Why does GG insist on adding its own normal map if one isn't provided?
First thing was the walls, originally it had a normal map but it was a png and GG ignored it, so I did a dds version and all was well
Next the door frame, I didn't think it would need a normal map so I didn't bother, if you look at the "nonorm" image it actually looks like I hadn't made the hole big enough so I messed about thinking it was that lol
Sooo why is GG adding a normal map even if one isn't needed and a hidous one at that :p

Lee added this in but they are just flat normal maps from what I recall. Just delete it if you don't need it.

Were is the map coming from? I looked at the fx file which is the enity_basic.fx and I don't see it pointing to any normal maps.. even importing a simple cube ends up with it

Ah found it, its "effectbank\reloaded\media\blank_N.dds"

replace blank_N with an entirely flat NM and you'll be good to go!

Thing is it totally ignored the normal map I use on the wall originally which was a png, the material was made in the EBE
Maybe we can't use png with the EBE?

GameGuru as a whole only uses the _N _S and _I maps if they are in .DDS format, it will ignore any other format and use the blank .DDS in the effectbank\reloaded\media\ folder.

i5, NV960 2GB, 16GB memory, 2x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.

yes looking at the log I can see it'll use the png then it looks for dds for everything else.. now I know I shall change my ways lol
