@ AmenMoses...

Well... I like to say, "It's tedious, time consuming, and annoying, but not impossible." LOL

Work is mostly done on a game level where some Native Americans work to help the game player fight the bad guys.

Much of this was achieved by using a team script that Smallg made.

I'm now moving on to the difficult task of trying to put together a map where there can be a fight on a train... At least I hope to give it a good try to put this kind of thing together.

@PCS - I have been getting much better at using Fuse 1.3 with FBX2GG, and in my use of Blender, but I too hope the GG Character Creator does get better in the near future.

I'm currently working hard to learn lightmapping, and how to work with light and shaders. I'm currently re-working the levels of my game to have better looking light and shadows.

I feel it necessary to give a big thanks to Bugsy for giving me a lot of good instructions on how to work with lighting and shaders... and for pointing me to some of Wolfs great tutorials on this subject matter.

Here are a few pictures from my current work.

1. The first is from a cave I made with the cave sections in Mega-pack 2, and I put a static light near a lantern hanging on the wall.
2. The next 2 pictures are from a level of the game that I have been working on with a fire place in the background.
3. The last one is from my attempts to make light rays go through some windows.

See the comparison to the old picture from a couple of years ago.

Hehe! How did you animate him like this if I may ask? Animation is a skill I don't posess but eventually like to learn. Are there tools you can recommend?

The animation in that picture was obviously a gif, but I use a few pieces of free software to do my animation work which are as follows:

1 Active Presenter - free software to make HD video screen recordings.

2 Windows Movie Maker to put the video, still photos and editing together.

3 I also take the screen-shots from the test-game and use them as still photos and make an extra copy to put into photo editing software like Paint Brush for windows. I stretch the mouth and chin down to make it look like an open mouth. I then add these photos to do a sort of stop motion photography in Windows Movie Maker and make the still photos take a short period of time (like 1/4th or 1/2 of a second) and alternate them to give the illusion of talking.

4 I also use Audacity (which is free software) to record voice overs for the videos.

@ Wolf - I can PM you the full set of instructions that I recently typed into a document.

I've often thought about doing a train level just like this (static train, moving background and floor). You could use the new particle system to create smoke that blows from the front of the train to the back. Sorting the parallax when you're looking out of the window could be challenging but not impossible with some cunning animation and enormous billboard 64-frame decals.

I'd like to see some gameplay footage of this level when it's nearer completion

I have been continuing to work on my cowboy game, and I have improved the scenery that passes by the train and I have done some work to make the inside of the train cars look nice with some lighting tips from Bolt-Action Gaming.

That's not my website... I asked around and I was told it belonged to synchromesh. I think that website is gone. You can send synchromesh a private message here within the forum and ask about it if you are interested in something that was on the website.

I wish you all the best.

Thanks for the kind words... I appreciate it.

I'm currently trying to build a stand-alone so I can have some folks beta-test the game again to make sure it's good.

I'm currently updating my main loading screen, title screen, menu buttons, loading screen, and loading bar. I have been using Style Guru to make some nice images that look a little more sophisticated.

I'm currently experimenting with GG's DX-11.

I'll be rebuilding my cowboy game with new stuff to see how it all works...

I'd like to see if I can get the full 9 or 10 levels to work (or see if the memory flush will make it work).

That’s great - looking forward to seeing how you get on.

The memory reset thing seems to work, so fingers crossed

Cheers.

Sorry osiem80, I just saw your comment today...

The way I got the lips to move is mere tricks by manipulating a picture by pulling down the lower part of the mouth... I then put the pictures in Windows Movie Maker and compress the time the picture is shown down to a fraction of a second. I simply keep repeating the pictures over and over again to make it look like a movie with the character moving its mouth and talking.

I think I typed up some instructions, although I can't remember where I put them. If you need the lengthy instructions, let me know and I will send them in a PM, e-mail, or post them here in the forum... I also gave them to Bolt-Action Gaming to put in the Game Guru book.
