hi there!
my "safe house" is finished and so i need a new project. it will have something to do with time travelling and i will use all of my GG assets i couldn't use before. the player will travel to different places in different times to repair some damage in space and time done by some bad guys, this is my first idea.
the first level will bring the player to a medieval arabian village.
this is almost finished, how do you like this?
part 2 will be a viking village and i'm also planning a pirate island and a castle.

Dr whoooOoooOo

But seriously looks great, and a really nice idea to get away with using the odd out of place object which you can simply blame on the time distortion.
Good to see you back

hi! thank you guys! that's nice to read
i was influenced by some assassin's creed i played and by the problem that i want to use some assets that wouldn't fit into another project. right now i'm working on a pirrrrrrate cave and a viking village. screenshots coming soon

here is the next scenery i'm working on: a viking village. it's quite hard to fill the scene for viking villages didn't have many trees and no modern crates to fill all empty spaces. i really like the terrain, it's "shimmer".

Waaaait a second! How've I missed this? I must say, the later screen shots are extremely well designed. The atmosphere portrayed just through the images is awesome!! Can't wait to see more!

Generally impressed by this, altough I'd be a bit skeptical about how you aim to get the whole time travel thing across convincingly.
It looks good! Well designed in your usual pleasant and warm colours. Not a fan of some of the textures on these viking buildings but thats not your fault.

Anywhere we can find Save House zum runterladen und daddeln?

Landman: thank you! you will soon see more. a medieval village is still to come.

Wolf: also thanks this is just a use of all of my assets i couldn't put on a map before. i mean, i paid most of these things so i must use it the time travel story is just a backstory to tie together all those loose levels. the textures of some of the viking houses are... not very beautiful to be honest but i guess i must live with that. i had many small levels that were in no context so this time travel stuff is a rough story to make it all seem at least a little logical.

my first idea:
in the future time travel is possible and the player is someone who has to repair some damage in space and time and is sent to different places and times to repair anomalies (?) by collecting some glitch like fragments. maybe the idea is that some evil people have travelled into the past to change things and i must repair it again by collecting these anomalies (i have a decal in mind i could use for this) my limited skills and the limited skills of game guru are forcing me to make a very shallow game that is just a stupid collecting game. collect X items and then you are allowed to enter the time machine to get to the next level.

about safe house: the game is completely finished when it's about levels, maps, enemies, scripts, music and everything else. but i have massive problems with lighting, the FPS rate is awful and i don't know how to record my screen in a video to complete the videos. when i create a standalone game i have lots of errors and many of my weapons still don't work. i guess safe house will never come.

anyway this will be my last project with game guru. i just want to use all assets. maybe i will never get this finished because of all the errors i can't fix. "island hopper" was also cancelled because all i get is errors and freezes

...but seriously. Why don't you just step back from GG, wait a couple months or till 2017 and release your projects? The engine got to have evolved by then, right? ....right?

do you think
i always want to do it (step back and wait a while) but i always come back because building maps is such fun i still haven't tried all the last options and maybe i will ahve to change my point: my games aren't cancelled, they are delayed would be sad to throw it all away. i have new ideas how to rebuild my "island hopper". i am looking for a screen recording software to finish the videos for "safe house" then i will have new questions on how to trigge rvideos but that will be later.

back to the game. here is a first impression from 1300 something.

edit:
i have some all new screenshots from my medieval map!

I think it looks pretty good, however one thing I did notice was the trees on the slopes, growing straight up, they should be angled on the slopes slightly in different directions that follows the slopes , even on flat terrain, would definitely break up the symmetry a bit .

Good job otherwise !

You could use nvidia shadowplay to record your gameplay. Or fraps, but fraps will have an impact on the frame rate.

@wizard: thank you! this is a good idea, i will take a look at this (trees on slopes)
@mookai: i have NVIDIA GeForce GTX560T and shadowplay only works from GeForce 6xx and up downloading and installing all of the nvidia software and finding out it doesn't work was a big disappointment. but i have found something else, i can recommend!

yesterday a friend told me about https://obsproject.com/ and it suddenly boosted my motivation. i finally have a video recording software and now i can flood you with videos of my games. finally!! this is a good software, free. worth a try.

Looking nice so far! I think I'd pull the fog back a little more in some shots as the foreground looks crisp, but the castle looks a little washed out in your market pic for instance. Personal preference I suppose, but I think the Castle would look better without the fog as it's not too far away and it does look like a sunny day rather than a foggy overcast one

in the viking village i like the fog but in the medieval thing i'm not really happy yet. i don't know if i put it away but i will reduce the fog.
thanks for the feedback.

now here's my first time i upload a selfmade video of my pirate map. just a test.

thank you that's very nice to read i finally managed to make screen recordings and now you will soon see a lot of new videos coming soon. i want to film all "island hopper" maps because now i can't make them work as a game. maybe in the future when GG is a little better with memory management.
right now i'm working on a "safe house" trailer.

Well well well.... this is perhaps some of the best work I've seen done in GG. Your maps are really well designed (realistic)... well done!!

I just hope the introduction of AI doesn't eat your PC's resources. That's one of the main resource hogs.

If you're looking for a good recording program, check out Plays.tv. They have a really neat app which I started using after OBS. It doesn't seem to knock the framerate badly on my PC, which is great.

i am very happy with the feedback here, this is better than i thought. thank you guys, that really rebuilds my damaged motivation!

in most maps i tried to keep some resource for possible AI but this is going to be a search-and-find game and not so many badguys. the setting is too specific for "masked soldiers" and i don't have many medieval-, old arabian-, viking- or pirate village- NPCs.

i am happy with OBS but i cannot record anything from visionaire software (fe. my first selfmade adventure game "alec thunder") wich is a great disappointment. i have to find the issue on that.

thanks here is some more. i made this from the new "night city docks" set. don't know if i will keep it but it looks nice for a 1940 / 50s village by the sea.

edit:
now i also have a "future" map that's on a space station. in this map there is a lot from oldpmans scifi set.
edit: there are still some errors in my map, i am not finished at all.

^thank you! happy to read that!

my arabian map is almost finished. i made a test level with 15 "time anomalies" that have to be collected (aka repaired). they totally do not fit the scene but that's what i wanted. now i'm not really sure. the rest is finished. the streets are filled with lots of stuff but i do not have any suitable pedestrians, no citizens that fill the streets with life. lokks like a ghost town. i must find a way to make this more lively.
and you see the awesome time machine that bod built for me. great work!!

i have completed all levels for this game now. now i want to show some screenshots from the "aztec map", wich is located in mexico and plays in 15th century. it's a collec- game. some of the "anomalies" are tricky to get. i just need some enemies to make the maps realistic. this is my next step. i will show more in the coming days.

at this moment i'm saving a standalone to make a first testrun. maybe this will be my first game guru game that finally works- "island hopper", "formicula" and "safehouse" all didn't make it to a final game. but have learned from the past. never be happy too soon :/
