...side-scrolling games. GameGuru is powerful enough for these kind of games.
I would say it's nearly perfect for 2.5 games.

Only a few things are missing, or I just don't know how to do it
All default characters from GG should be useable as 3rd person player character.
It should be possible to fix the 3rd person camera to a position, that it's not possible anymore for the player to change the view.
Edit the keyboard and mouse controls. Key D for example as walking forward (from left to right)
It would be a great 2.5 side scroller engine.

Third person for all characters is currently fourth on the voting list for development, hopefully it won't be too long if the votes don't swing too far between now and then.

You can actually have third person for all characters already, you just need to change a few lines in their FPE, you just can't use any weapon other than the staff, although there is also a way to use other weapons, but that involves editing the staff to have a different model and remodelling the projectile it uses etc, a lot of fiddly work.

As to making a side scrolling game, it's already possible to a certain extent, you can already fix the camera into a side scrolling position, the only issue is you can't fix the axis of movement on the character, meaning you will still be able to move in all directions instead of just left right up and down. Also, AI doesn't work on multiple levels so any side scroller you would do would have to be on ground level at the moment.

Hmmm, the player movement can be limited by the invisible wall object. Still not perfect, but could work.
Fixing the cam, I have to find out how.
Editing the fpe and weapon files is hmm maybe complicated
You can have different platforms, just need to raise the terrain, and hide it behind a wall in front.

You can not complete fix the camera. Only the height....
Another thing if you walk right (pressing D key) and press left mouse button to fire, the the character turn in direction (W (north)) and fire in that direction, instead firing in direction D (right or east).....

Yes.... We must wait another 12 months
The graphics would be already good for 2.5 games, I mean from a little distance some of the models look really good

vote for Platformer games and 3d person only. I'm on the same page as you are. I wish we could just skip the EBE and move on to the next things. having to control things like this would be cool. but who know maybe Lee will around the list and get it done with the EBE. after all it is an easy way to edit you game camera and controls.

Its just an easy menu editor I'm guessing .... it is possible now and easier with StyleGuru .... for me not a priority ..
I would rather have 3rd person for every character and platform game support

I'm a big C64 fan .... I think I have every C64 game emulated on my PC ... I would love to but without these features its a losing battle

I did think about a Mercenary thing though

not!, menu editing has trumped it and a sure bet 'Quest givers' will trump it also by the time menu editing is complete, but I recon Lee knows how important it is so maybe it will be worked into a smaller update, I hope so anyway!

Hmm let me think ....
EBE with stairs .... Menu's running up and down ...
EBE with stairs ....Bots running up and down ...

Ye that's a tough one

Bots on all levels below the EBE has been this way for some time and Lee has mentioned his plans for it ...
They both kind of go together from a coding point of view anyway ..... Once these 2 biggies are out way its all downhill

Stealth would be a good add on, it is sort of possible with scripting but not exactly right. Although a lot of people are doing shooters GG is great for puzzle laden scripted horror games. If you can learn lua, it's fairly easy to knock up a few puzzles.

True, Lee has already said that he wants to get them working on multiple levels so that they can work in the EBE.

Although I think it may be more of a quick fix to get them at least working for the release of the EBE and then revisit them later when the votes reach them.
