Thought I would just start one thread instead of creating many different ones for each model. Hopefully I will be able to be a bit more productive this year than last.

First model of the year will be this pontoon bridge, not quite finished but I have been on this all day a need a rest now, just a few more tweeks to the diffuse and sort out a specular map then its just getting it into the engine. Hopefully be uploaded on Saturday.

Fully done and uploaded to the store, fingers crossed I got everything right as I am pretty sure they were not expecting a floating bridge so it may go a few rounds until its accepted.

In game shot

I am thinking about a commando canoe next, your thoughts or is there something you guys would like to see first.

Geo done, perhaps a little higher poly than I originally wanted at 790 but may be able to remove a few as I start the unwrap and things look a little more obvious flattened out. Also the smoothing isn't quite doing what I wish however the normal map often helps so hopefully I wont have to add any more polys.

About to start the unwrap which should be done in an hour or so.

Guys / Girls,

Thank you very much for the comments they are great to receive but what would be most helpful and hopefully more beneficial to you guys is what you don't like, I can only guess at what you guys need, require or want even if you think I have missed the mark somewhere please tell me, I am big, ugly and thick skinned enough to take it. I can sit here modelling to my hearts content making models that are no good to you which serves no purpose to any of us other than keeping me away from the housework / pub.

Sometimes its really hard to think of stuff that I think you would like and it would be a great help to know.At the moment I would like to concentrate on the WW2 stuff so anything in that vein would likely take precedent right now along with any freelance work that may come in.

Again thanks for the love but it is the hate the helps and the requests that inspire.

Fair enough then. Tbh though everyones got different interests so while some may not like a certain entity/theme, others definitely will. I for example am no big fan of future/Sci-fi models and prefer the sleek look an F16 jet . However all you have to do is take a look through any number of store pages or model threads here on the forums to see the huge demand for sci-fi themed stuff. That being said I'm in the market for a good medieval catapult to add to my ancient arsenal full of trebuchets, cannons, swords (Hint Hint). Anyway Fantastic job Frap, I'm a huge fan of your work & belief in doing things right!

I have been trying desperately to get this working in the game engine this evening as apparently I am fitting a new shower to the bathroom tomorrow . I have got models doing this before but I don't understand why the canoe isn't working when they do. For some reason it keeps sinking, can anyone point me in the right direction or has something changed recently ?

EDIT:
Now sorted and uploaded to the store so should be available shortly.

Thought this would make a good target for a mission, a German Flakscheinwerfer Sd.Ah.51 or search light if you don't like tongue twisters. Sitting just under 2000 polys but I haven't tried to optimise it yet.

Just starting with the texturing, normal is done and just the basics of the diffuse done, think I want this to be a little more aged and weathered, somewhat how I feel right now as I am down with a heavy cold hence why progress has been a little slow.

I use the following software

3ds Max 2010. Photoshop CS4, Illustrator, Quixel suite 2, Marmoset toolbag, crazy bump and currently saving my pocket money for substance painter.

To be honest, I could be using Blender, gimp etc. Its all about practice, patience and studying reference.

The searchlight has now hit the store. Here

It was a bit of a fight as the reference material out there is mainly old black and white photos or plastic kit models so I had to use a little artistic licence here and there but I think it is close enough.
