From a idea of synchromesh that asked
Quote: "Any chance of a skeleton character with a sword .... A must for all fantasy games "

I tough, well this can be a challenge esspecially the animating part . so started of with finding a blue print.(viva google).

and setting things up in 3ds.
first started with the arms.

I started building in pieces, because the skinning is gonna be a bit different, i keep track of witch part goes to with bone etc. and keeps things organized for me when i starting with uvmapping.

and the lower parts

Hopefully soon more..

Harry

Great work harry, a skeleton is needed in GG and I am sure will be a popular item.

Update:
The teeth i had allready on a beast model and adapted them with this skeleton.
Little bit of scaling and turning, but i think it worked.

Now the uv mapping and texture

bagsy first sale to me,

maybe you could do a skeleton pack

one with shield, one with a cloak, one with a helm etc

this will triple sales and make a lot more variations and games maybe less same than just 1 version.

i could think of 12 versions already. like the zombie pack this has a wide audience and more variety more choice and better the games. get this done now spend my money

an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of game creation!!!

Thanks all

Allready working on a shield, so i was also thinking of a sword, a version with sword and shield.

but first uv mapping.. that can be such a tedious job, and a lot of work
in the picture you can see i use a checker pattern. to see if the mapping is at all places the same.

This is what I was thinking about at the time ..... One of the best stop motion scenes ever..
Since then skeletons in battle have been used many times in fantasy battles

indeed, this is the first thing i thought of when i saw the model, i remember watching those on TV as a child
its amazing how well that clip still holds up even today, normally when you look back at films that seemed so impressive they are actually a lot worse than you remember but considering that film was made over 20 years before i was born it still looks realistic (enough).

setting up the catrig (bipe) and the skinning

And for the life:
with sword and shield

with the sword

and unarmed version

I added also a jump animation, for 3 person view.
The strafe and duck animation i will add somewhat later, those are pretty difficult.

Thank you....

Two video's in Game Guru.. one from me with the the three skeletons,
The skeleton with the sword and shield can also block..

and one video from Smallg who did the amazing scripting

In the video from smallg you can see that the skeleton loses his shield and sword after taken damage.and starts punching really cool

Nice Work, Harry.
I will buy it to.

Have you thought about an re-spawn animation?
So once you defeat him he plays the death animation and after a time delay he gets back up onto his feet and is ready to go again.

This would be pretty cool...
Cheers

I think thats allready possible, in the animations i also have a couple of frames where the skeleton returns to the stand position.
I believe 940 950 in one of the video with sword and shield. with scripting you can use that to rise the skeleton again.
I know for sure that smallg knows more of that then i do, but i think it can.

Brilliant Harry, great work

What about adding a death animation where the skeleton just falls in to a pile of bones when it's finally defeated?

Oh Harry mate, this very cool!!!
Remember skeleton in classic. he does nothing, but is cool to see.

Quote: "but first uv mapping.. that can be such a tedious job, and a lot of work"

Sure mate. Hopefully GG full support multi-textures some day, and full support mean multi-textures not being a pain for GG.
