Something I have been thinking about for a while:

I thought I would break it up when done so that it would fit in with an apocolyptical level. There is quite a bit of work to do on it yet, so don't expect it in the store fore a while.

Hey! nice work on here!

Coincidence has it that I finished a bridge very similar to this just before I saw this thread
Any progress TazMan?

Thanks Wolf

I put some detail on the towers and put bases on them, Just about to start hanging the wires, that should keep me occupied for a while. . I had a couple of days off because of a wedding.

Getting there slowly:

It will be a shame to break it up when I have done

Must remember to keep a copy of the original before that though

Don't worry synchromesh they will both be in the shop. The full one might be a bit high in poly's , I will try and get it down as much as possible obviously.

Great progress so far Tazman! I really like working with large models, thought it becomes a challenge to keep a high quality texture I find. Have you considered bringing the model into Guru in seperate pieces? Your skills are improving ... i'll be watching for more update pics!

Thanks teamhalo, I am going to split the whole thing into two parts when it is destroyed for the apocolypse version. I have found texturing a lot easier on large items particularly since I bought the indie version of Substance Painter.

But as you say sometimes it is easier to split the model. I found this when I built the White House. This had to be split into three, purely and simply because of it's poly size. I will see with this one when it is done.

It is realy great to here such positive things from people who have done great things themselves.

Getting there, I did need to split it up quite a bit to start texturing it. The model for the intact bridge will come as half of the complete model wich can then be duplicate for the other side.

Half of it:

The Full thing:

Not long now I hope.

Thanks Harry

Not as much to UV as you might think, there are a lot of things that were duplicated so I knocked these down as much as possible and then copy pasted it back together when I had finished. As Below.

Why make work for myself.

Well I think that the two Golden Gate Bridges should be in the store in the next few day (barring the team finding something wrong).

Below is the Apocalyptic Golden Gate Bridge. It needs a bit of tweaking but I am almost there:

The wiring needs a bit more doing to it and the colour just isn't right yet.

Sorry but there is a problem with the bridge and the new version of GG so these won't be in the store until this is sorted out. I spent so much time on them as well, damn.

Beautiful bridge! Hopefully the problem isn't the model itself (doubtful if it worked in the previous version; probably something else). I'm looking forward to adding this to my asset collection!

I have at last had permision from TGC to put my Golden Gate Bridges up for approval to the store. There was a problem with the size and the new Occlusion system and they asked me to wait and see if it could be sorted out. Well I decided I had waited long enough (it still was a problem with the new GG).

The problem was that it is so big that when you build it and run the level a lot of the bridge dissapears as you move around which would be fine if you couldn't see it happening. Taking Occlussion down to 0 sorted this of course. I asked TGC if I could put it in the store if I told people this and I also said that maybe people who wanted such a large object wouldn't want the occlusion system on and they agreed to let me if I put this in the description.

I have changed the texture on the Apocalypse Bridge so that it looks like it has been bombarded.

Hopefully these will be looked at and in the store by the end of today or monday.

At last. The first Golden Gate Bridge is available in store. I am still waiting for the Apocalypse Golden Gate Bridge to finish being approved but it shouldn't be long.
