Fbx and obj need to to be converted to Directx (.x) format. There are applications out there that are made strictly for conversion, but most modelling programs will convert between formats. Blender (free) is one of the most popular, and will handle all of those formats pretty well. There are many, many others, which I will not list, as Google is free as well. Keep in mind though that format conversion is not a perfect science from app to app, and there may be additional work at times!

Hi JS

I import them into blender 2.69 and then export as .X ( Textures usually stay mapped )

I then manually create a folder and add the textures and the model ..Next thing is to add an fpe file ... Find a static one and just edit it to suite your needs ... If its Multi-textured then leave the texture field blank.... Then copy the whole "MyModel" folder to the entity bank..

Usually 15 minutes tops for the process .... Scaling is usually trial and error for me though

Yes blender will do the job. Version 2.69 is the best version for working with direct X. 2.7 and up has issues exporting X files correctly.

I use one of the GG barrels and the soldier character when scaling in blender before exporting. Just convert them to obj and import into blender. Then scale your model using the soldier and barrel as a reference. The barrels are slightly less then 3ft tall. (35in or 880mm) I have obj versions of both reference models I can upload but I'm not sure if I am allowed to or not.

I use autodesk 3ds max or blender and sometimes fragmotion for conversion from. Fbx etc to x file. Fragmotion doesn't load in fbx. For animated objects I use max.
