Thanks Harry, in early times I was working with Anim8or , I started this program yesterday again but I saw there is no directx export.
It is a pity because it is a nice program to work with, see pics.

Greetings

Thanks all for the info,
I cannot find Truespace 3D anymore , Microsoft had Truespace taken over in 2008, I think it is gone.

Anim8or is also free and much easier to use then Blender. So I asked on the anim8or forum for exporting to directx , it is possible to export to directx , I am going to try it. If it is working I let you know.

There are also plugins for importing/exporting fbx . dae . md5 .3ds .obj

Again, i use this for static objects.

Anyone else here using Modo? Seems to be a lot easier to use than some of the other software packages out there. I still use Sketchup to draw houses and buildings however for smaller more detailed objects I find Modo a lot easier to use.

In the past I have used Solid works and 3ds max however kept finding myslef going back to inventor until I came across Modo made by the foundry. They also have some other products that may be useful for detailing the models. Worth having a look at (not cheap but very very good).

I have been using Hexagon 2.5 because it is so easy to use and extremely cheap. The only problem is that it wont view or export to .x files. So I use Ultimate Unwrap 3d, to texture and convert.

I still use a mixture of Gamespace 1.5/Truespace 7.6/Fragmotion/Animer 2.2 (for animations in BVH .X format)/Autodesk 3DS max/Blender (learning). Some work better than others.

i use Silo 2 but it's expensive atm. Sometimes you can get it on sale. It's very easy to use :

I've used autodesk 3dsmax b4 but i find it too complex so i use Silo 2. It's easier
Autodesk Mudbox is another good one I've used b4. I found it super for making your 3d characters 'cos it makes the skins / textures automatically for your characters / 3d objects you make. So you don't have to do all the skinning mapping / dopesheets like 3dsmax !
