Hi,

I code a litte tool, named "StyleGuru". If this name is making copyright troubles, please write me.

It is about putting your own style together. Some of you surely tried this in past. Make is manuel means, having the same graphic screens in some resolutions and so on.
StyleGuru will help you. This tool can make the Graphics (optional) and StyleGuru creates the folder structure and the needed graphics in needed resolutions.
Even put you're button graphics in StyleGuru and they will be copied in your style.

Great work

Be nice if this was integrated into the official GG updates. The FPSC Classic main menu editor was a pretty strong part of the engine. No idea why Game Guru was released out of Early Access without something like this. Its essential.

You're surely right. That missing was the reason I began to code by myself (the next version will be nice. Within a little Graphic Editor ). It's ok for me, when thy focus the engine.
I dream of an API in the engine where the community can plug Ideas by them self. But I think it's to early in development for things like this.

The API is an interesting idea. Really like the work you've been doing here this is one big part of what has been missing. Thanks again for your hard work!

Hi everybody,

I finished the second Version and created a little website for StyleGuru.

What I have done:

- StyleGuru is now be able to change the Main Loading Screen (the Loading Screen wich appear at the start of the game and in GG testing mode), so every important graphic is quickly changeable

- There is a new Graphic Editor/Composer in StyleGuru, wich gives you everything you need to make your individual screens. Surly, it's not Photoshop. But you'll have good resaults in a few minutes. The easy screen builder .

- There is a new Button Generator. Choose from some templates and customize a button to fit your imagination.

I attached some Screens to this post, edites the first post and hope you like what you get here. It's all to make your game really unique.

@Sanguis : Great Tool. Thank you very much for it.^^

@synchromesh: in another context, I suggested to Pirate Myke that the menu be extended by a configurable
"User tools" submenu. This here tool is a great example of what I had in mind as candidates for entries into that submenu. That way, everybody can have their individual external toolset at their fingertips from within GG.

Save screen as main loading screen option is the one I'm referencing. When you choose to save your custom graphic, it goes and overwrites not only the watermark folder in the language bank folder but also the keyboard shortcuts screen in the editor, etc.

Hm, I don't remember where is the difference. You can still use a graphic with the keyboard shortcuts as Main Loading Screen.
Can you upload me an original languagebank folder? I don't have one anymore. Then I can try to find the difference.

Hi,

thanks for your languagebank, good for testing. I thought both picture folders would be used in standalone EXE. With your languagebank I noticed, I was wrong.
I think I will insert a little combo box, to make the choice, in next StyleGuru Version (hopefully next weekend).
I will redesign it a little bit, there are more and more things, that can be customized .

No one expects these things for nothing and StyleGuru is already free .... I would happily buy it if you create it ...

The next version will have something like that. But only in a small way. There will be an option to change the hud symbols and hud background graphic. It will be enough to make your very own style.
But it's not a creator to make a completely new hud with new dimensions.
This would require a lua script.

Maybe this will come anytime in future. I'm thinking at coding a lua editor, when GG is much more developed. In this I can integrade a "real" hud creator, I think. I want to wait till I can be nearly sure not too much is changing in GG anymore. There will be much more ways to use lua scripting to make some customize creators then, I think.

I made a little redesign with the main StyleGuru Screen, fixed some bugs wich caused new created buttons not transparent in GG and little bugs with main loading screens. I added a section where you can replace the hud icons with some of yours.

I was thinking to integrade a section where you can change the exe icon. But the only way to this, is when StyleGuru would be hacking the exe file to replace the ressources. What StyleGuru did in past was simple modding. But this would be hacking. So... I would like to read a statement from TGC first...

There is a way to create your own icon but I can't seem to make it work. You use a free tool called resource hacker. There are other ways here. Someone let me know if the method works for you. I'm thinking that I'm doing something wrong on my end of things.

@Sanguis I wish there was a simpler way to implement the buttons like with the various screens. It's a bit rough with the buttons right now. Also, thank you for creating this amazing tool! upgrading to your 0.3 version. I have something in the works I've been playing around with and will be using Style guru to generate the menus, etc.

Make sure you replaced ALL EXE Icons, in exe ressources. In some exe files are integrated more than one in different resolutions.
I will try to code an easy way (it will take time, I don't like to sit here when the weather is hot ) if TGC write it's ok, to let StyleGuru hack the exe file.

Wich way would you prefer? At the moment it is simple replacing. What is hard for you?

Did you try the "Button Generator" in StyleGuru? The Buttons created do have the needed resolution to fit in GG. At wich step they don't line up properly? In the Game?

That's very good to read

I will add more backgrounds (and other graphics) after the summer. Till then... you can google "free textures" or something like this and import your own background coice by clicking the "..." Button.
