Not having the widget enabled by default is a mistake. The most user friendly and basic 3D programs such as Paint 3d have widgets when you select something. This is bad for new users and old users alike.
Not much else to say here.

C'mon lets not get carried away. You make it sound like devastating News. The end of an era ,
It took me 6 seconds to enable it in settings and its done ..
The first thing anyone will do is go to settings and set their preferences.

but if most people are going to (re)enable the widget then that shows the widget should be enabled by default, make the option to disable the widget the one that is hidden - #bringbackthewidget

agree with smallg, I would make widget default and allow the user to turn it off to hide if needed.

Perhaps Lee will change it back or maybe he's not finished yet working on his Method ?
Personally every new build i go to settings and turn most of it back on so widget on or off does not mean much to me initially. Ideally he can leave them all enabled.

I personally don't care much if it is on by default or off by default but I wish they could make the darn thing work properly!

Edited to add: any personalisation settings should not get wiped out by an update either!
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

I agree 100%.
the widget should be enabled as default, and some button labeled: enable/disable the widget.
I must add I love the new system, via tab plus h and/or V options, you can work really fine.
As I had seen on the last broadcast you can even move entities a different height (hill, mountain) and it keeps the terrain height when moving, that's cool.

It should be some reason for that behavior since it is just a matter of writing a txt/dat/log file and read it when starting.

Well I certainly didn't want to make it sound "devastating" but it is stupid.
