Thanks for the new version mike. As for the change in colour to textures it only happens when you have different .lua scripts
to the doors.

thanks guys, let's see how things go.

So, just a refresher for those who not sure, there are 2 ways you load a ported FPSC level. The first way is to load in the newfpsc2gg fpm located in the defualt mapbank folder as seen in picture below:




The 2nd way is to load the level as an entity depending on where you are saving your FPSC levels out to.
I use entitybank\user\aw_fpsclevels\<folder name><level name> or similar:

you can also port over to GG MAX by opening the .fpm from classic to GG MAX.



with textures, post saving back out and then loading the level back in. weird but works.


TEST GAME MODE -- improve textures/lighting etc ( I haven't done anything here, maybe remove some of the legacy FPSC level light markers if needed):

things started to get a bit more together now, v3.8 will see the repositioning of the level centered in the 3D viewer if repositioning of the level is not checked/ticked from the options menu, was off centre before. Doors + other FPSC entities that sink into the terrain fixed and work well in GG and looking into other issues + extra features. loads to come.

so a little refresher , for example, for the FPSC scifi level that comes with FPSC, the levels are level1 and level2. If you have more than 1 level in your FPSC game, in terms of porting over to GG classic / max (if you want to try) using AutoWelder you will need to either remove all the previous level e.g. level1 files or place the files in a new folder e.g. level1data_backup or whatever, and then process the next zip file i.e. level2, level3 etc.

This is level 2 of sci fi level, I used full shader / lighting etc options in FPSC prior to building the levels:

I will be fixing floating characters and markers, they are not correct as FPSC uses 3D object zone markers etc.

going back to this, yes so GG classic doesn't handle/use segment files which are .bin files in FPSC classic. Now I can read these in and dump out , rebuild etc. So what I do in GG is turn the segments rebuilt in AutoWelder into Entities and therefore each entity needs an FPE file.

Oh I am planning my own GameEngine in totally pure 100% C++, no ideas what to call it yet, I had a great name and then forgot it. I am thinking of using IMGUI or similar as well as a different 3D engine maybe HW3D as I rather liked the engine. Anyway, hopefully my small team of programmer friends and possibly my brother who does work for Microsoft will help out.

An update so far with whats going on with v3.8 of AutoWelder (between work etc):

1. Software update - code now redirected to my new website which now uses static address, so you can update anytime, anywhere
2. Code now developed to fix the "terrain sinking" issue and level will be auto-adjusted on the Y-Axis to align with new entity Y-axis fix.
3. Code now developed to handle textures with the same name but different file paths.
3. Code now developed to dump out segment files used.
4. Developing code to allow the user to CSG (punch) holes etc into the level in real-time.
5. Developing code to "weld" vertices to reduce number of faces/verts used. This is a little tricky as we don't want to mess up the texture coords and vert normals.
6. various options being added in to the GUI
7. Level now positioned in the center post weld on display if repositioning option not ticked/checked.
8. Code now dumps out each level object (limb) out to separate files
Fixes to come:
1. Not happy with the waypoints, the positioning / scaling etc is not correct, this is also true for some character entities which maybe down to zones/waypoints also
2. anything else to be added here

All this is ongoing at the moment , time allowing and not sure when it will all be completed and tested. I have a new baby on the way next month and we are in the middle of trying to move from the area I live in at the moment , so time is limited.
I'll add anything I've forgotten to the list as and when I can.
Also, does anyone even use the segment side ? I'm thinking of removing segment rebuilding side, but will leave in for now.

Well the update is I have now rewritten the software update code which now removes the need for flashing CMD windows when grabbing the files from my website (FTP).. It's also a lot faster, I had to write some extra c+ code to fix various issues with a dll. fun and games, hence why the slow progress. I might just release an interim version of Autowelder with the new software update code, will see.

GG MAX is very impressive so far for the FPS genre. I guess this tool will all come to an end at some point once GG classic has 'died a death'.
Does anyone even use classic anymore? I know I do at the moment, but more for dev work and some edu games for my wee boy.

I still use Classic as my system does not seem to be fast enough for GGMax , and my MoBo will not take a updated GFX Card
even if I had £1800 to spend on 1.

Here is v3.8a which has the re-written software update code. No more CMD flashing screens to grab remote files. I've fixed a dll that now allows me not to need to do that and call methods internally to do the various remote tasks I need to do successfully.
The updater now uses a progress bar showing which files have been updated. more can be done to the code to make it more flexible.

The entity fix will be in the next version now as I'm still integrating the test sub code.

installer is now restriction free, Google Drive defaults to restricted mode and I keep forgetting to change to 'anyone with link' mode.

Entity FIXY "sinking terrain" code now implemented in the EntityWelder tool. user ticks the option to fix entity(s) from the Entity options menu then selects the EW tool. Have to do same now for the EW CLI version which is used for the FPSC levels, this means the level itself will need to be fixed on the Y axis which will be kinda fun and awkward. There are always challenges when programming

Due to newborn baby and new contract (not that I need it- keeps the mind going) and moving home, won't be doing anything on this for sometime if ever. Too much more important things to concentrate on. It's amazing how many views this thread has now hit. GG max is good but my own software team now concentrating on my new 3d game engine. It will be a lot better than Max. I hope I'm paying them enough to keep them keen to keep going. All the best

this project is now closed, energy and interest has totally gone now. the new engine is taking shape, I might run a title competition later date, prize, a free copy + £1000 to spend on what you like. I had a great name and it totally went. knew I should hvae written it down. drats
