New Update - xSurface please check for updates in Asset Manager

V1.8.9 Changelog

Added xSurface Texture Packer - Allows creating surface maps for GameGuruMax (PNG input/output only in this version)

Removed more debugging, minor cosmetic changes and general code tidy.

Surface Maps are a 'Packed' resource used in GameGuruMAX.
It is a single texture that stores 3 other textures in its Colour Channels (ARGB)

Ambient Occlusion RED Channel
Gloss/Roughness GREEN Channel
Metalness BLUE Channel

xSurface will combine these texture into a single Surface Map, just click on 'File' 'Load Inputs' and browse for your source Maps,
_AO, _METALNESS and _GLOSS choose any one of them and xSurface will load the other files automatically.

These files need to be .PNG format 32 bit (ARGB) DDS textures will be supported in a later release, Please note ALL 3 textures are required to make a surface map, if you dont have an AO map you will need to create a blank PNG (white backround) at the same resolution as your other maps i.e 1024x1024
all input files need to be located in the same directory.

Once you have your maps loaded click on 'Create Surface', once complete right click on your newly created surface map and save it.

To create a new Surface Map click on 'New Surface' or 'File' - 'New Surface Map'

Added xHUD Designer - Updated to allow Weapon Hud customization
Updated Help File - includes all new modules - single help file instead of multiple
fixed issue where more than one of the same tool would run in the background.


Removed 95% debugging code, minor cosmetic changes and general code tidy.
(removing debug improves speed/responsiveness of application but crashes (if any) will not show errors)

V1.9.1 Changelog

xSurface - if AO map not present a blank one will be auto generated.
A lot of assets dont seem to have an AO map and one is required for a surface map,
xSurface would crash out if the AO was missing.

Update released

This update is mainly for Menu Creator, GameGuru creates slight movement and scaling in its menus Asset Manager now stops this so the Menus you create are more WYSIWYG

i have tested by creating 80 different menus and all seems fine so i have released an update, please check for updates within Asset Manager

I know its not the download/update you are waiting for but Asset Manager as a new update please check for updates.

this version as MAX code but is redundant at the moment more for testing/reliability.
It is more cosmetic than useful but that will change as more details are released about MAX

i have enabled the MAX features in the background at the moment all you see is a cosmetic change, i have left it in the background so that i can test resource/memory use having Asset Manager switch between the two engines is great but i need to make sure its not too memory intensive

Asset Manager v2

Hi i just want to confirm work is going forward with Asset Manager, i am currently working on Version 2.
Mainly code tidy up and 'Diagnostics' to ensure good CPU & Memory usage.

The latest edition to Asset Manager is something i have been working on for quite a while:

WIP - 3D Viewer/Convertor

Supported Import Formats:
.3d,.3ds,.3mf,.ac,.ac3d,.acc,.amf,.ase,.ask,.b3d,.blend,.bvh,.dae,.dxf,.fbx,.glb,.gltf,.lwo,.lws,.lxo,.md2,.md3,
.md5anim,md5camera,.md5mesh,.mdc,.mdl,.mesh,.mesh.xml,.mot,.ms3d,.ndo,.obj,.ogex,.ply,.prj,.q3o,.q3s,
.raw,.scn,.sib,.smd,.stl,.stp,.x,.x3d,.x3db

Supported Export Formats
.dae,.x,.obj,.stl,.ply,.3ds,.gltf,.glb,.fbx,.x3d,.json

There are still some minor issues but overall it can handle a lot of Polygons.
this will be included in the release of Version 2 (no release date as yet)

Hi Graphix. Nice to see the work for this keep advancing, especially this converter.
Now this might be an overboard question, perhaps there's no possibility for it...
but nonetheless, it would be nice if there was the added capability to flip any model
asset at any angle; IE select the model, adjust the angles, BAM! re-save model.
Of course this means the origination points, not just in the map!

Model flipping to Proper, desired rotations. That's it. No other modifications, just a rotation.
Now I know the .fpe supposedly has tweaks to help here, but from my even limited attempts it
doesn't seem that effective. What do you think?

Import your 3D model - Click on 'Import Model'

Import formats supported :
.3ds,.bvh,.dae,.fbx,.gltf,.ms3d,.obj,.stl,.X

When you have your model in the scene further options become available:

'Preview Texture' - Select a texture to view on your asset, this requires your model to have been UV Mapped to work correctly.
'Clear Texture' - resets to default scene texture

Scene Options:
Background Colour - the ViewPort Back Colour can be changed here (Default is White)
View Wireframe - if checked overlays a 3d wireframe of your model
Show Info - Displays indepth information about your Model
Show Grid - The base on which your model sits (The center is 0,0,0)
Start Animation - Rotates your scene (can be used to record and upload a video of your model)

Model Options:
Translate F1 Key - Press F1 to dislpay the move widget
Rotate F2 Key - Press F2 displays the rotate widget
Scale F3 Key - Press F3 to show the scale widget
Off ESC Key - Press ESC to remove any loaded widget on screen

Export Options:
File Type - Choose the format you want to export too (currently limited to X, FBX, OBJ)
If X or FBX is selected a FPE file will be automatically created.

Export - Click this after selecting your File Type and choose a folder to save your model

Create Thumbnail - Set your Scene by rotating the camera (right mouse button & scroll wheel to zoom) once happy
click on the 'Create Thumbnail' button, this will create a 64x64 BMP file of your model

Currently Limited(until furthers tests have been carried out) Export Formats to .x,.obj,.fbx

Wow, radical. Is this the same AM as original?
IOW we don't have to re-order 2.3 and pay more?

My installer said; "The following updater failed to install."
"Asset Manager 2.3 - Reason: Another version of the software is already installed."
Now tried twice. Currently I'm on 1.9.8

Lol you have missed a few updates you will have to uninstall your current version it will ask if you want to keep your licence choose yes then download version 2 from https://www.3dassetmanager.co.uk your licence will be in program files in the Asset Manager 1.9 folder move it to the Asset Manager 2 folder then delete the old folder when you start version 2 it will auto update to the latest version. It maybe worth joining my discord then you won't miss updates

Your 3 day trial link does not appear work with Chrome but does with Edge on my machine at least.
I do not know if this a general problem or just me but I thought I'd let you know.

The Chrome issue as plauged me for a while I think it is a setting in chrome that causes it, Edge is Chrome also just better in my opinion it seems faster and safer.
I did notice a lot are having issues with Chrome and downloading zip files https://support.google.com/drive/thread/73657680?hl=en

I have created a script that checks for chrome browsers, the download links should now work for Chrome
