I had my monthly meeting with my internal management team and during the conversation about GameGuru I mentioned the divide between users who liked the voting board and the idea behind it, and those who thought it was a bad idea and only Lee should decide what comes next. I then mentioned that some of you proposed that the voting board could be reset so that only current members of the GameGuru community would be heard and votes from a year ago would be removed. I was very surprised when everyone started nodding!

So this is it, aside from the EBE which is almost complete and the AI which is something I really want to do, how many of you would like to see the voting board reset every year in the first week of January so that new votes are reflective of the current community? Before you answer, bear in mind something you have been tracking might suddenly end up at the bottom. Also, bear in mind I will be inserting updates into my roadmap which address issues that I feel are core to the product to ensure I wrestle back some control to do the things that are popular in the forums despite being unpopular on the voting board.

If the 'Please Reset' verdict is over 75%, I will push the Nuke button on the 16th January 2017. Let the voting for the voting board begin!

hmmm I'm wondering if that would push back "Swimming" or bring it up. Guess I'll wait till I hear form anyone else before I express my opinion on the topic.

This would certainly help calm things down in the forums.

Yes and no.

Yes to resetting it, but no to yearly.

It should be reset every time you start a new task from the current vote, that way the vote is always current and up to date.

But if its a straight yes or no all or nothing I have to vote yes.

I vote yes!

EDIT: I also like the idea of resetting upon the start of developing a new feature. But perhaps that's too frequent?

In my humble opinion, this is a good idea. Please Reset.

Many voting board position like "Quests","Melee Weapons" and others, are outdated or present in the store.

At the same time, need very necessary things, such as "All settings to have equivalent LUA commands (include more commands for system setting, resolution, control player and environment & etc), further optimization, and maybe "free multiplayer with scripting" after major improvements...

Also feel free to suggest vote items that should be removed from the 'options' and provide a reason (i.e. already done, duplicated, not core). For adding new items, please use the "Suggest A Feature" form at the bottom of "https://www.game-guru.com/feature-vote" as I will be going through the entire list of suggestion from the last 12 months to add any items that are highly repeated.

Agree with Belidos ...
Apart from the time already spent on the EBE and the really needed AI ...
I'm all for a reset after every feature has been finished and then maybe a period to Re - Vote so its all fresh
Also once a feature is added users may want to change their mind so a fresh vote would be more sensible ..

Also happy to leave a little room there for Lee to use his discression whilst working on features
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

Wow, 100% yes so far I also like the idea of a reset after every voting board feature update - it ensures the board is extremely reflective of the needs of current users who make a point to push for their favorite feature. My roadmap will have to be fluid enough to include these shifts in preference after each update but I don't think that will be a problem and I will be insisting on adding my own core updates throughout the year for essential items.

Hi all, its a big reset from me!

Maybe the board would work a little better by a point system as in (No Sliders). Just keep it simple, our top ten items / ideas or how many are on the board at the time. Just use a drag and drop order voting board like with bootstrap / jQuery layout.
Example: So you drag which items to which order you think are important which will register your votes.

or maybe not as this may take time to setup.

belidos has the right idea, it should be reset every time a feature is implemented. that way its up to date and more accurate desicion could be made on what to do next. I thnk the voting board as a guide to what you should work on next but not set in stone.

Yes from me as well.

But i'm also thinking that you as the developer should be at the front because you know which requested features correlate with the planned core updates on your roadmap.

With that said, I think resetting the board is okay with me. I'd actually be curious to see what everyone, that's currently here, would like to see worked on next.

Please reset after every major feature update, I find the idea very smart , and it will force us users to follow/support/influence
with more attention how and where the development goes from every feature on.

I think however that 2017 it's most of all the time for GG to reveal itself as a stable, core features plenty and
reliable game engine. It must be possible to create from scratch a game and distribute it/ publish it with its current
capabilities, frozing (until this very feature is not reached) the development of every other addition.
After all i think THIS very feature must be at the first place on Lee's personal board: swimming is useless if the AI is
dumb and a better AI with a poor performance of the engine is even more useless...
I mean :<< if to get a smarter AI and a performing engine you have to cut something else .. please do it!! For me the situation in
which we have a game engine with less features but we can make a working videogame from scratch it's the most desiderable >>
I think that with the wonderful set of 3d assets we already have in GG .. we're just a step away from the dream

Reset , hit the nuke but. a reset after huge updates would be nice, but still there should be at least a month to get new votes in, so one person cant get a function voted up just because "Lee was so fast", and we end up with a vote for "moveable clown noses, a must"

Lee - do it already

Quote: "

"

This is exactly what I was going to say!

If you reset after each task as it is released we can be certain that the current votes are from people who are serious about working with this product, and want this awesome product to move forward in a positive way.

And the news that Lee is going to work on what he considers vital to the overall engine is indeed an excellent move!

so yeah push the button

Actually yeah Belidos's idea is much better not yearly but after every major update has been implemented, with a preceding announcement of the new voting is taking place That way "current" users will get to see it and the votes will be more relative to those actually using the engine at that time.

I think you have a great bunch of members here now, that have stuck with GG and know what's needed to push GG forward and reset is just what we need to get those features up the list.

Yes of course it's a good idea but something must be done with the voting of things that take a long time to develop like EBE, I believe you could end several things that is easier to develop and wait with EBE (even though I am in favor of development EBE). I think the addition of more things worthwhile in this case.
