I am having some problems . Since I don't use the 'C' drive for anything except the O.S. By the time I go into my 'E' drive and find the segments I get some errors . 'Error at line 895' of something like that and then the program just shuts down . I have tried several times .. Some of my programs (art work) are also on a an external drive .
The program has the 'C' drive preselected to find the right folder , but in my case it's a no go for me
Because of other stuff I do I just can't put the program on the 'C' drive ....

BOTR :

No problem . Yes I do use 'E' drive . Maybe the best thing to do is leave it blank and let the user enter it . Having the program just shut down is a problem too .

@Lance, many thanks for the PM I have responded. Also, I am currently working on an update so that you will be able to choose custom drive/directories.
Where do you have GameGuru installed?, is this also on your E: drive?

I will fix any issues users have with the DEMO version. Any future advanced updates will require a fee (not sure what price yet but will be reasonable).

Thanks for the tip BOTR. Works great!

Using the middle mouse button worked. Use arrow keys to move up and down and rotate.

@seppgirty-glad it works well for you- there will be some fine tuning applied to the tool and I will make a video showing how to use it. You can press P to pause rotation and P again to continue rotation and left and right cursor keys to tilt the segment. Let me know if you have any further issues.

Hi all,

For those that have downloaded and tried out the software, thanks very much . There are some minor issues/niggles which I found this morning and that other users have currently found. I noticed when pressing the "S" key to close the preview window was preventing the user to preview the window again after clicking on "Weld" button. This is now fixed. Also the thumbnail was not being generated when the user uses a custom file name when saving. This has also been fixed. I will be looking into the other user issues and resolving these and then will be uploading new links to the updated DEMO version.
My apologies for any inconvenience caused. :-(

Nice piece of software, managed to load a few Segments into GG, which was very easy to achieve.

Just one comment it's a pity that Rooms cannot be Painted on (Manual States 'Prefab Attached to the mouse, move mouse to see a blue print image of the prefab trailing it') like in the Old FPS Creator.

I guess that this would only be achieved if GG was programmed to allow it.

@ozziedave: yes that's correct GG doesn't have the paint functionality (it's missing quite a lot of basic functionality which is frustrating but I know TGC are improving on the editor e.g. the selection bands) , so for the room pieces I just select the parts that I want in order to make another custom segment e.g. floor, floor+wall, Corner, straight etc

@devlin: you can use either the "S" key or the middle mouse to close the preview window, silly me forgot to code the close button of the preview window. I have now fixed the "S" key bug and thumbnail issue on custom saved segments.

I am currently making a video guide on how to use the tool and will post as soon as.

The "punch" feature will come later but for this and other advanced features such as the level import/export, there will be a fee (I don't know what price yet but should be reasonable).

As requested - I have updated the tool (v3.2) to allow the user to change the default FPSC and GG root directories that reside on alternative hard drives e.g. external drive E: or similar. I will of course release the update as soon as possible after I've done further testing and looked at other issues.
This will be accompanies with a video guide update.

@devlin-nice one!!!

Here are the links for version 3.2 which allows the user to select alternative drives+directories as requested.
To change default root directories for FPSC and/or GG select "Set FPSC Root Dir" and/or "Set GG Root Dir" from the options menu. Also you can view these settings from the View menu.
I haven't got round to fixing window close button or sinking door entities. I will look into these tomorrow and also continue with FPSC level import/export and Punch facility.

[removed as version is now obsolete]
Please let me know of any issues.

@Lance - thanks for your PM, just sent you one back. That is brill news, as mentioned, I will generate a .INI file so the user doesn't have to keep choosing the paths for each run.

@synchromesh-I've tested on my W10 platform and does work, however the code that produces the zip file is not compatible so I left the code in that creates the entitybank folder and puts all media inside that folder. For now, W10 users will have to manually zip up the entitybank folder and rename accordingly. There are 2 dropbox links, the 2nd one is for W10 OS. [update-sorry I just noticed I duplicated the same link - the link for Win10 version is now on page 1 and page 3]

@Bisella,-strange, what platform are you using? WinXP, 7,8,8.1,10. Please can you do a search for that file and let me know if it finds the DLL and/or where it resides on you computer. thank you.

Hi, I have added an INI config file (prob should have done this in the first place ), anyway, I will be uploading v3.3 soon. No more further updates after that for today as I want to carry on with the FPSC level import/export which is progressing, no eye candy as such yet.

[update-ok so now having some issues with packer software, am in contact with their support team, no joy as yet-so an update may not be available today ]

I didn't have MFC71.DLL on my PC either (Win 7) . But one of the programs I have had one in it so I copied over to sysWOW 64 and system 32 . It's a regular Windows dll file . Must be an old one ?

Mender 2.1 Beta3 has one in it and so does Animer 2.2 trial .............

Here are the dropbox links to v3.3

This version generates a .INI file so that it remembers your FPSC/GG root drive/dirs, but only if you set them from the options menu as the tool will attempt to search all your drives for the standard default directories.

today I have fixed the close button on the showcase/preview window, this has now been removed or disabled as it's not needed.
I will be concentrating on fixing other niggly issues, performance and also of course continuing with the FPSC level import/export code.

[update-user can now close window from main GUI window. Also adding code to produce segment snapshot image to use as thumbnail.]

Downloading v3.3 plus guide, sorry not time left to try the previous one.

About bisella's issue, maybe he is using xp, if so, it could fix that issue with this windows update:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=17054

Perhaps it has to try the non win10 link before.
Not sure if non xp user does need this dll.

@Lance-I will have a look at the code as I'm currently applying fixes at the moment.

[update- found the reason why the app closes prematurely, this is down to the Smart Packer Pro program as it makes the directory the EXE resides in read-only which is a pain, so I will be updating the code so that it creates a subfolder for the .INI file to sit in and see if the problem still arises or not]

work today on the tool is interesting (I think ) , currently making the tool "SuperDuper" fast and will release v3.5 once I have fixed sinking doors and other niggly issues and will include the faster code that uses internal memory to speed a lot of processes up. I want to do as much as I can before having to return to work next Monday.

3.4 working fine also for me, the only you has to have in mind is run it as admin, specially if you are running UAC.

I should missing something here, so, can you post here please, the keys you are using so far, I'm no able to get the key for saving thumbnail.

Running as admin, even help for debugging app with VS when crash, because the pdb files, otherwise you get missing dlls error messages, such as:
" TCPSVCS: Failed to start control dispatcher 1063" ... , because Access denied due to the lack of rights.

Hard work so far, but it was worth it.

@Lance-glad it now works ok for you -the packer program was causing a few issues and is also incompatible with dropbox
@3com-which OS are you using? To take a snapshot use the "c" key when in preview mode. There is also a video guide link for 3.4 above, which shows you how to use the new version. Yes, I advice removing the UAC and make sure you run in admin, UAC is just a pain.

The tool performance is 90% done now and what used to take over half a minute to load in 18 parts for a segment now takes 0 seconds which is fantastic it's pretty much instant. Didn't get any time to look into the FPSC level import/export yesterday but will try and do some more today post code "speedup" and other fixes.

Performance now 100% done, so all file data are now held in memory for quick access. Now only takes between 0-2 seconds to process an 18 part segment instead of over half a minute or longer e.g. Dark Egypt rooms.
Off for a curry with the Mrs and then at somepoint over the weekend will continue fixing the door sinking issue, more limb adjusting fun

The new version of the tool (3.5) will be released today which is now faster than previous versions (post performance enhancement) and the door "sinking issue" is now 99% fixed. I will include a video guide update for the new version. WIll also look into the door (found during recording the video) that was not quite right in GG. By the time I upload the links to the new version, I'm hoping to have resolved that last 1%

The demo version will not include any advanced features. The punching code is in test area at the moment which works well but a fully integrated and improved system still needs to be done. This will not be free. I might release a demo version but u will not be able to save the punched pieces. It will be the same for fpsc levels.

Keys are as follows until I add buttons.

In preview mode:
A - play animation
C - take camera snapshot for thumbnail
Cursor left and right - tilt segment
Cursor up and down - move segment up and down
S - close preview window
Middle mouse button - same as S key
Left / right mouse click - reverse rotation
P - pause segment rotation

I'm sure there will be many improvements and changes as the tool grows and develops and welcome any ideas you might have.

ok, I've tested a few more doors, ww2 etc and some are correct in GG and some aren't, for now I recommend using v3.4 for the doors for now. As always, I will endeavour to correct the door sinking issues am not really happy with it.

Hi BOTR ...
Thanks for the response

Well I'm only trying it with a default installation and assets .... I get the issue with anything I try to weld so I did a small video so you can see exactly whats going on ...No one else seems to have reported this so I was just thinking it was my setup but as far as I know all is good

@synchromesh-Thanks for doing a video. I'll take a look on my windows 10 32bit and also test out on Win 7 x64 bit to see what's going on. I'll test out on the Armoury segment you showed in the video. Will get back to you as soon as possible.
