Hi guys. I was wondering. I have some 3ds files that need texturing and exported to .x but i dont really know how to do that. Is there a walk through i can follow. I read it can be done with blender.

The problem is that i can't exported it to .x. The problem is that when i export the model it will not export the texture .ddl file.

Will sketchup or wings3d create the ddl file when it exports it to .x?

You can convert the Texture to ddl ... that's the easy bit

Use gimp to covert your textures to .dds

sketchup create a texture file like png-jpg or tga....then with the paint.net convert to dds
wings3d uses the same texture you use for texturing the model ... then with the paint.net convert to dds
it's very easy

in sketchup is automatic
install the right plugin (in attachment)
then create or import the model . then go to the plugin- directx -export model
the plugin automatically exports the texture applied to the model, but you have to be to convert the texture in dds format whit paint.net or gimp

Or use paint.net! Whatever graphics program floats your boat! If the model doesn't have a texture, then you will need to UV map it and create one. That's an entirely different process that you really aren't likely to find explained in a forum thread, at least not a brief one!
