@geistschatten That sounds like a perfect spot!

@synchromesh I'll have to look into that. I like that they have linkbacks to artist store pages on that site. And to clarify, it's free to download from here for an indefinite amount of time.

Hey EAI. I was a really big fan of your weapons back in the days of FPSC-C. Do you have any new info about any weapons you plan on making?

@Disturbing 13, No problem man, enjoy!

@Wolf, Ahh- good to know! I have plans for 2015, for sure. "Projects" is an interesting phrasing to which I can probably answer, "Yes". There is something I want to put together which is going to require a lot of assets and ultimately guide the focus of my work to a certain degree. What exactly that will be is still a little fluid but the abstracts are beginning to fall into place.

NovaXP, I have several things in the works to varying degrees of completion. Some are things you may have already seen which are being updated and rerigged for Reloaded while others will be new. The release timing will depend somewhat on TGC as there are some bugs or incomplete support which will need to be sorted out first on their end. Now that .009 is out, there are some basic things which I can release and you can expect to see some sings of that in the coming week or so.

Just a little status update here...

I have have modified several entities and re-uploaded them to the store. These were mostly for entities where the animation and/or alpha parts broke when using baked lighting. Other's have had material type or collision changes. Illumination maps are now included by default for those which were originally missing them. For many of these, they now default to dynamic and immobile rather than defaulting to static. These objects will use dynamic shadows assuming a high enough graphics setting is chosen. Users may, of course, alter .FPEs to let the objects be mobile if they wish for something to be pushed around but they should not be set to static in maps where baked lighting is used. As always, please let me know if issues are encountered with my products.

As a side note, it seems that GG is now supporting legacy weapons that utilize multiple textures. At least to some degree. This means that at least a basic level most of my classic weapons should be somewhat compatible now. I'm keeping an eye on weapon developments to see how things progress and change. There are still numerous roadblocks however that are keeping me from uploading new content. My hopes are that these issues will be resolved sooner than later.

T-T-T-TRIPLE POST!!!!

CATALOG UPDATE----------------------------------------------------------------------

EAI Billiards Pack *uploaded, pending approval

Just a small group of pool/billiards related entities. Simple stuff. Cheap stuff. $4 for the lot.
I would like to add some more things to the pack later like wall mounted racks or table light once GG is better equipped to place/snap those kinds of entities. Worth noting that GG physics are a little goofy still so balls will tend to float a bit if placed on the table as dynamic.

Looks really nice EAI. It's funny I was just modeling a pool cue yesterday and contemplated making a set. Looks like I won't need to Looking forward to seeing some more. Your props are some of the nicest on the store, I admire the effort you put into your models.

I have always been envious of your texture work. Really nice set of models there EAI.

With regards to snapping to walls; I have just mentioned it to the team and something is in the works.

forwardfacing=1 used to be a really great feature! (when it worked!)

Thanks guys. I've had the billiards stuff sitting on my HDD since late December but have been too lazy to go through the upload rigmarole.

Quote: "forwardfacing=1 used to be a really great feature! (when it worked!)"

Is that the thing we used to have for snapping signs to walls and such? If yes, then I totally agree. When we have that and the FPE vertical offset working there will be a bunch of other entities that I can upload. Stuff I made during my last days of Classic.

Anyhow, I've updated the 2nd post (catalog post) with the new pack link. Going to go through some other stuff today to test with shadow baking and if all pans out, I will have some more stuff to upload.

CATALOG UPDATE----------------------------------------------------------------------

EAI Fiberglass Seating Pack *uploaded, pending approval

A small assortment of vandal-resistant seating with retro-modern styling appropriate for any number of public or institutional uses.

Texture style is well-used/slightly grungy but not overdone. Color is basic "Dystopian Dirty White" and lends itself well to recoloring or additional grunging.

There are eight pieces in this set and all include LODs.

Price will be 3 bux for the pack. These were meant to be part of a larger pack but I sort of lost momentum so I decided to break them off as their own thing.

Nice table and chairs. I think we can all say that we have experienced the comfort (or, lack thereof)of those, one time or another!

Are you making a bowling alley next?

That would be very cool and would lend itself to the previous model sets.

Cheers

Hah! Strangely enough I have thought about doing bowling alley stuff the machinery is particularly interesting to me. Hopefully I'll be able to focus on weapons next but if not I'm going to be trying to stay away from more indoors stuff until conkit is out.

Your new stuff looks good! I like the billiard table, its very realistic. I'm not the one to talk because I make a lot of antique furniture or decorative statuestuff but... come on man! Fiberglass furniture is boring! Where are them guns?

lol. Right there with you...

Seriously though, if anyone is wondering what I'm going on about, I've compiled a list which can be viewed here.

Luckily, I've been able to solve a pretty major issue that popped up with Steam release, so I am happily able to be working on weapons again. For now.

On a side note, I've spot-checked several of my X9 weapons and most are now able to drop into GG with relatively little changes.

For the most part, they just tend to look plastic wrapped as they generally don't have normal maps or specular maps (the now-stock fantasy weapons also have this problem). The plastic look can be diminished by reducing the global specular slider although that's really not the most ideal solution.

Another common problem is with positioning. I find that the gunspec settings for forward=x and simplezoommod=x each need to be increased by around 5. That usually does the trick if the weapon FOV slider is set to around 60.

You will also need to replace the crosshair.dds with a GG-compatible one (swipe one you like from a known-working GG weapon).

There are several other differences in gunspec but they are generally fine tuning tweaks because some of the input ranges are different. The notes above will usually get you going in the right direction though.

For pickup items, basically just follow the FPE settings for the stock stuff and assign the appropriate lua script.

That said, some look or work better than others. This isn't meant to be encouragement to go out and buy old assets but if you have them already, there might be some more mileage you can put on them. There will be a few which I will fully update to my new arm rigs and remaster for GG but several won't be as I prefer doing completely new things.

How about rigging wizard sleeves to the arms as an extra dimension. This would work for wizards with weapons and if you ever get a spell kit up and running I would buy the lot. But just an ideac

I will be looking into fantasy orientated stuff but not until much further down the line as it will depend a bit on how they implement things like blocking or particle effects. I have high hopes that GameGuru will be capable of some cool stuff eventually both in regards to fantasy and Sci-Fi. For now I'm just concentrating on modern stuff as that's the closest to being fully functional at this point.

------------------
Random Sneak Peek... This pic isn't particularly representative of final quality as I still need to do some color balancing and specular work but I was rigging this today and snapped a couple pics. When I saw this one all I could think was, "....so...much...deagle..."

Plenty of other stuff in the works at various stages of completion.

Thanks for the kindness, guys

I'm pretty excited about all of the tweaks and fixes which have been going in at a rapid pace. A anticipate it will be quite soon when I can release my first few GG weapons.

General question for all.... Does anyone know of a good website thing where I can get a weapons list going where people can upvote items and add their own suggestions as well? I have a handful of things that I know I will be releasing or wanting to do but I'm pretty open to suggestions as far as what modern weapons people would like to buy...

Hey! As long as you keep it real and don't give us fantasy rifles with xray vision and a heartbeat sensors (unless you go allout scifi) you can pretty much do what you like the most. Whatever it is, it will likely be splendid

I remember a modded MP7 from you...and I remember wanting it!

Sorry for the lack of updates here but I'm still plugging away on weapons...

A teaser for you of my 3rd generation AR platform:

No diffuse or specular detail here. Just model and bump map. So there's plenty more work ahead still.

Originally, I considered using my 2nd gen setup from MP53 but felt that I could better and have something that will look really great in GG and still look good a few years from now.

I intend for both of these to use alt-fire. The Mk.18 will be semi/full auto switchable and the AR-15 will be able to toggle usage of the 3X magnifier.

I knew you'd eventually give us another set of AR's.

And they are horrific! I mean, don't you even look at your own work anymore? Completely disproportionate and lacking any kind of detail. These look like models someone completely new to 3d modeling would do without having read any kind of tutorials. I have yet to see something more dilettantish on these boards.

go back to modeling chairs you amateur!

I have to agree with Wolf. These are some of your worst models to date.

Maybe, you should go and learn to how juggle or something. You obviously can't make decent models.

Absolutely fantastic all around, the textures and the models. I like that these textures are very worn and dry looking, gives the weapons a gritty feel. Can't wait to see more videos of your weapon animations. Your old Youtube channel had some really awesome stuff. These are going to light up the Guru store, really can't wait to play with those. Are you going to go with an all purpose multi weapon type pack, or just taking things one at a time - in this case, the assault rifles? Can't wait to see more

@teamhalo

Thanks... The final product will have some greasy spots where lubricant has seeped and such. Basically, I want to be using the full range for specular fidelity. But yes, overall I want a well used look for these. My short-term plan is to cover the basics and have that as a sort of starter pack that covers the core weapon classes and then add depth from there. More or less, for my first releases I want to be setting what my quality bar will be and ensuring full functionality of everything. Granted, things never seem to go as planned

Great texture work - what software do you use for the texturing?
