Hi all,

I already wrote about it on another thread (TGC Models and Media), but perhaps not everyone knows.

You can import characters from FPSC Model Packs to FPSC Reloaded.

How to do it? - step by step tutorial is attached.

You need ANIMER 2.2 FRR and MENDER 1.5

We need an impartial community pundit who owns ANIMER to test out this new version, and if the rumors are true we should soon see a flood of new characters in the Reloaded universe. It's what I like about this community, they don't wait for slow coach Lee, they just roll their sleeves up and do it themselves Class!

I had to try adding a character to reload with Animer. I went through the steps that are outlined in Animer 2.2. I am happy to say it went in and worked without a problem. The thing that I was most interested to see was the FPS compared to the characters that come with reload. I am also happy to report the character that I imported had same if not better FPS. So I think I will get busy working on other characters.

Here is a short video on some work I did with Animer 2.2. I cleared out the old animation then import the animations from a Reloaded character. Then I exported the character to Reload. If you want to use a lot of your old characters this is a great tool to have

I did not spend time to get the fire spot setup on the characters. That is my next thing I have to do is straighten that out. Then add more characters for my Reload inventory. So I have something to work with until packs start coming out.

I'm working on it day and night!

I already know what I need to do.

To make these models compatible with FPSC-R, I have to change their structure.

Animer 2.2 can't do it. It's very difficult. If I manage to solve this problem, yo

I haven't checked it yet.

Because I'm just a coder, I don't know exactly how to check the weapons.

I need instructions on how to put classic weapon into FPSCR, or we can do it this way:

I added the Python from FPSC Classic to reload. There was not much problem in doing this. There where some people asking if you could use them. This is only one that I was testing. I am going to look into others

Any word on this? I am interested in using some 3rd party .x character files, but it seems impossible with FPSCR right now. Whatever the magic structure is for using them in FPSCR, I have no clue, but no .x file I have tried so far will animate in the engine. So, if you manage to make it work I'd be all over getting my hands on Animer.

Yes, I know what should be the structure of the animated .x character file, in order to work properly in FPSCR. Because it really inhibits the use of 3rd party characters in FPSCR, I don't think that the guys from TGC leave it unchanged, so I decided to wait until they improve it.

I just purchased Animer, downloaded it and converted the female explorer from the tropical pack in less than twenty minutes! It works great, you just gotta get the fpe from a reloaded character and rewrite it for the new character (animations, weapons, etc.) figured that out quickly! I gotta go to work now, but when I get home I'm gonna get converting! Thanks Rafhalzer! Absolutely brilliant!

World Class-which zombie are you trying to convert? I just tried the zombie cop from Model Pack 4 and it worked perfectly! Are you trying one from one of the Zombie Apocalypses?

Of course, everybody knows that in the real world zombies can't use firearms! Which is a good thing, since they're scary enough!

Here's 3 zombies from pack 57. Notice gun at feet on 2 ... need to correct that, but it's kind of funny seeing them shoot with their feet

Excepting my .pdf tutorial, you can use video tutorial created by Super Clark:

http://fpscrforum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=208248&b=8

Zombie characters don't have a FIRESPOT limb. In FPSCR 1.006 characters must have FIRESPOT, then you don't forget to add a FIRESPOT as a child of a right hand in zombie characters. If you load a character without a FIRESPOT then FPSCR crashes.

If you do changes in .fpe file - don't forget to delete a .bin file first.

If you do changes in .x file - don't forget to delete a .dbo file first.

Good luck,

Congratulations Rafhalzer, this is a great piece of software, I purchased 2.2 a couple of days ago

and have converted some of my collection of FPS Characters. After a few goes I can now convert in

about ten minutes.

I have Windows 8/64 bit some times I get a "No Response Message", but I learned that the software is

still processing the file, and it ends up fine.

Thanks again for allowing me to use my large collection of regular FPSC Assets.

Well done RafHalzer, excellent product. I am having fun converting old FPSC characters and importing BVH files, the Larien character now dances like a charm. Works very well and have followed the video tutorials, well done to everyone who put those together.

The mender 1.5 crashes occasionally but usually ok once I come out and go back into the software.

I look forward to future updates and improvements on the application.

Using Mender and Animer I managed to convert some old FPSC characters for Reloaded. However, I noticed a couple of them seem to have their arms the wrong way round or something. I don't know how to fix it. I've tried using Animer but don't really know how to do it. Could someone please give me some pointers.

Some of old FPSC characters are mirrored - for example left hand is called Bip01_R_Hand, then Animer imports the right hand animation to the left hand. To check it, load this character into Animer, select Bip01_R_Hand limb and rotate it - s

I have been completely unable to get anything useable with this software. I bought it during the competition with the hopes of converting my many packs and other characters that are Dark Basic Pro friendly to FPSCR compatible format and could not get it to work at all.

Everything I tried crashed FPSCR to the point where I gave up and did something completely different.

It's likely not the software, just too many steps - too darn complex - to convert anything. I need a one or two button system. Load it in and convert then save it. Done.

Will this ever be possible?

When we release the Zombie Pack you will get a much better idea how you can get your characters animating and moving in the Reloaded engine. I have created new scripts which can control their rotation, movement, collision as well as making them attack and die too. It's not using the full AI system which requires thousands of animations, but it works great for custom characters with a handful of meaningful animations and behaviors. Keep your eye out for the word 'Zombie'

I purchased Animer to help me correct simple door-open animation issues coming out of MilkShape, However, in the long run I found that the problem was not the animation, but the Door.lua script. The default script is set so the player must get very close to the door before it prompts you to open by pressing the "E" key. I found that for curtain door designs the center point of the door model was too far from the actual door for the system to activate. I changed the less-than value (in the door.lua script) from the default (60 or 80?) to a few hundred, and everything worked fine without using Mender or Animer, plus in standing back a bit I can watch the door open.

However, I do plan to begin testing Animer on FPSC characters in the next few days.

A thought... In going through the FPSR animations (using Animer) understandably most of these animations are combat oriented. What about another set of animations for the same characters that are less combat oriented? That way we could re-texture and double purpose the existing characters???

Hey Lee, instead of every one waiting and waiting and then waiting more, just open the engine to use other formats! Easy, done! That will allow other characters to be used that are not the same thing re-skinned 7 times. Would allow custom characters like 4 legged critters and they all don't move the same all the time.

Have been playing with Animer with good but somewhat mixed results.

Out of Character Pack 17 I went through the conversion process with Cleopatra and Pharaoh. Both converted and made it into FPSR using the Neutral LUA script. The male figure converted easily and looks great. The female experienced some mesh distortion around the neck, and the neck itself seems extended. Both characters follow the head and body turning script, and well as the standing still animnations. I have not tested beyond this.

The enclosed screen shots show both models in FPSR

Need some help dealing with the female distrotion... thanks

In the directory where you open the file in Animer, find '_char_acter_.dbo' or '_char_acter_.x' file and delete it.

If you have problems with Animer, close other running applications.

If this doesn't work, reinstall Animer.

Hi Rafhalzer

OK, so good news and bad news. I was able to open the Cleopatra.x file in FPSR after going through Mender 2 Beta, and the physical distortions where repaired. That said, I have not been able to import any character into Animer (2.2 FFR Full Version). Still getting the same error code as above.

I have reinstalled both, same result Mender works / Animer Errors.
I uninstalled Mender 2, and reinstalled mender 1.5, and again nothing from Mender or just the base FPSC .X file will open in Animer???
I have deleted the Char_actor.dbo file which Animer seems to create before it crashes, but with no better result.

I'll keep working at it. Doesn't make sense since it worked before. Any further suggestions would be appreciated. Is there a later build of Animer than the one I have which I purchased in June?

Hi Go Devils,

It's very strange because:
- it worked before,
- my computer like your is running on Windows 8.1, 8GB RAM,
- I have installed both Mender 1.5, Mender 2.0, Animer 2.2 and it works,
- this is the last build of Animer that runs on many computers.

About the error that you get: 'Object already exists at line 4877'
Animer wants to load a temporary object '_char_acter_.dbo' but can't do it because this object already exist.
Animer should load a temporary object when he loses content - if screen saver or energy saving system turned on.
It seems that Animer gets the false information from the system that he had lost content.

What you can try:
- install trial version of Animer and check it,
- if you run Animer, close all other applications including antivirus (use the task manager to see what is running),
- check if you have problems with other applications.

Let me know the results - your case is very interesting.

Hi Rafhalzer

So nothing is working. here is what I tried...

I searched for "_char_acter_" files and found quite a few. I deleted them all.

I unistalled everything, turned off firewall and Defender, and reinstalled just Animer.

I also turned off my power saving settings

I then attempted to load a .X file with the same error every time. I uninstalled the full version and reinstalled the Trial version with the same result. Please note that Animer will not load any file, even if I use load without animations... same error????? Same even if I try to load the Masked FPSR character.

I have also attempted to install the program outside of the Windows Program (x86) folder on the C: Drive. I've found some of my old software will only run if it is outside this folder. However, Animer still throws the same error???

I'm out of ideas???

One additional note.. the only thing that has changed on my computer since this began was the install of the mender 2.0 beta. I have uninstalled it and everything else. Does Mender or Animer leave anything behind when uninstalled?

Thanks
