Why do we have to put custom assets, or assets from GGC, into the Documents/GameGuruApps/GameGuruMax/Files/... Why can't we put assets in the main GameGuruMax install area? Is there a good reason? Hope I'm clear on what I'm asking.

They will be deleted with updates.
Max is not like Classic and nothing should go in the core.

Like synchromesh said, it's to keep your custom stuff separate from the stuff that ships with MAX. It allows MAX to be completely updated, even deleted and reinstalled, without you having to worry about losing your custom assets in the process.

And GGmax root files sit on a not-writable area, at least not that friendly.
