Scripts / Zombies keep resetting their position during chase

So I'm new to MAX and trying to place zombies in my level. They will go through their chase animation and then reset to their original position repeatedly. This makes them run or shamble forward for about 1 second and then pop back to their starting location after about 1 second. Am I missing something? I'm not sure if this is a scripting issue, as I'm using the default scripts for the zombie action.

sounds like they're animating but not actually moving the AI (the animations move forward by default but reset when restarting the animation loop)
where are they placed on your map and are they on the nav mesh? press tab twice and check the nav mesh is yellow under them.
