LUA scripting is definitely a part of GameGuru MAX. The visual logic system is there, too, for those of us that struggle with scripting. For those who can script, you can actually write scripts that open things up to the non-programmer through custom Behaviors, if you so desire, though you don't have to (if you want to write scripts for others, that is). So, you can just write LUA scripts for your games if that's what you want. You don't ever have to use any of the visual logic stuff. The visual logic system will always be limited compared to what you'll be able to do via scripting.
There is a manual for MAX. Since MAX is in Early Access, the manual is not complete, but is being updated.
