Hi, I've obviously seen the Island Showdown demo which is very good. However, what if I wanted to create a remote island where at any point along the water's edge no other landmass can be seen, just ocean. I was after the feeling of remoteness. I know this is achievable using height maps, but then would be missing out on GGMax's landscape generation. I have tried adjusting heights of water and land without much success. I was hoping to avoid going in and manually painting the terrain.

Maybe it would be good to have an option for the generation of random islands. Do people think this would be a nice feature to have?
Maybe options to specify how many islands to create, how close to each other so that foot/road/rail bridges could be used to join islands together etc. I think it opens up a few game possibilities.
I have very simple tastes, I am always satisfied with the very best.

The generation still takes place even if you use heightmaps

Ok, thanks that is good to know. I've not used heightmaps so didn't realise the terrain generation still takes place.
However, I still think it would be nice if GGMax had the option to create islands itself.

@3com
Have not tried that, but will give it a go, thanks for the tip.

However, it may be best to play with heightmaps as that way would probably have control over the shape, size etc. It's not a big issue, it's just that the first idea I though of for using GGMax and I have to revert to using a third party tool. Actually, it may be best to come back to the island idea later after getting more familiar with what GGMax has to offer.

@Yarsnez
here is a quick and easy ISLAND level,,,,,
load it into your MAPBANKS folder and try to load it to see if it works for you.
Took about 5 minutes to make.
Simple solution was to raise the water UNTIL ALL LAND IS COVERED with water, then ,
in the EDITABLE area , raise the land to the desired height over the desired area you want the island to cover.

Let\'s actually make something happen with this one !
